Rt. Rr. Hydraulic Jack descends while driving Motorhome

Need help with hydraulic jack problem. 2007 Itasca Sunova 26P. Right rear jack has always had some problems. Mind of its own when auto-leveling ~ occassionally after all 'settled' RtRr would raise 2". Had that adjusted. Have had several shop visits to fix.

The latest problem is getting worse to the point of being afraid to use the MH. When MH parked at home and jacks not deployed the RtRr drops down about 1/4 " the other jacks are tight against the upper housing. Usually not a problem. HA! Just got back from 6wk. trip up thru central CA,Or,Wa. About 2nd week in on a 2 lane mountain hwy the jack light/buzzer on dash WENT ON !! Finally found a place to get off hwy.~stopped engine ~ hit'jacks-up'~ light went out. Travelled on to destination no further prob. While at camp ground [CascadeLocks] checked the hyd[tran] fluid found it low and topped off. Deployed Jack put out slides. stayed week left for Wash. Light & buzzer abount BattleGround,Wa. Stopped raised jacks & went on to CastleRock,WA ~ Went on again just as we got there. Stayed a few days and called a halt to vacation.

Checked fluid ~ raised jacks ~ Bought HD Bungees ~ Bungeed landing plate to frame. Headed home. Stopped every RestArea to check. Did not put out slides as did not drop jacks on O/nite campground stays. No more prob. Took MH to local repair shop 4 wks ago. Quite busy for 4thJuly so just 'put it in line' Today owner said they could not replicate the problem ~ while in shop ??? Can't test on road obviously. Mechanic who is working on it said is on lift today and had already dropped a bit will leave it o/nite & remeasure. If still decends could be valve inside not just a seal.
Then they will contact the extended warr. people.

Anyone else have similar problem ~ What was the solution ~~ Thanks

Doug ~
Thanks for the edit. That is what I am trying to explain to my repair shop. They want a full replication of problem & I do not think that will happen sitting on a lift. It only happened to us after 50-60- miles of road travel.

I appreciate your time & input. ~ K

Usually, it will retract when extended under load also. Doug

You have power up and down. I would replace BOTH solenoids for the offending jack. When the system leaks internally, the loss of pressure allows the jack to seep down just a few inches. Doug

Thanks Guys ~

No external springs. Would give make /model #'s ~ EXcept the paperwork is in the Motorhome and it is in the repzair shop. This is a WorkHorse Chassis. The HYD Jack System is Kwikee

1. If he has HWH jacks, there is NO adjustment to fix jack extending in transit
2. Odds are he has the 300/321 series HWH jacks. The manual CLEARLY states that you MUST push the HWH STORE button every time you start the engine for travel. The 300/321 series jacks can slightly extend from road heat or the hose routed too close to a chassis heat source. By pushing STORE, you put the system into hibernation and IF a jack slightly extends in transit, the system will wake up and open the offending jack solenoid to allow the jack to retract fully. This will happen BEFORE the down light or alarm sounds
3. IF it happens in Transit, you do not have to stop, just push the STORE button and the offending jack will retract.
4. He may also have a BAD seal in that jack and it is not fully retracting. But, that would keep it from retracting when he stops and manually retracts.
5. There is NO WAY a HWH jack can come down more than a few inches if the springs are connected. So, in transit, you do not have to worry about the jack extending far enough to create a hazard. Doug

Hopefully dougrainer will weigh in on this, but I think he answered one of these awhile ago saying to: Drive the Coach with the Jack Controls ON and Select the STORE mode." Pressure builds up as you drive. Exhaust heat? Don't remember, but if recall serves me, the problem's common enough, to call for driving in STORE.
Would be good if you post back, with Make/Model of the Leveling Jack system. The discussion was about HWH jacks.

Weak spring or hydraulic solenoid for that jack leaking. What brand and model number? Most have websites with good troubleshooting guides to download.
