Samlex 300 Watt Inverter vs Canon Copier

Haven't connected the printer to the Samlex until I have better information.

I remember connecting a HP 4 laser printer to a Trace 800 and plenty of batteries and it drew something like 75 amps when starting the print cycle.

Well, this isn't a laser printer and the Samlex isn't a Trace 800 watt. The mass of batteries is now a single Lifeline 31

Comments Urged?

BTW Trace advised me with a thumb's up for the connection 23-years ago.

You got the good one then. Quiet Thermo controlled fan too that doesn't run constantly like a cheap inverter.

No problem,I've got the Samlex 300 PST series (psw) btw. Nice choice if you have the PST series.

The PST series is their top of the line inverter, they used to make a cheaper series.

That's an inkjet. It should have no problems at all in terms of power usage. Ink usage and clogged nozzles are possibly a different matter (though I hope that turns out to not be the case). In particular some inkjets do not appreciate sitting unused for long periods of time.

I agree. Inkjet shoudl work with any PSW inverter may work with an MSW
Laser you need somethignin the multi-kilowatt range Those can tax a 15 amp circuit.

Yes it is the Laser Printer that should not be run on MSW. See #4 here:

We have carried a Canon MP for many years (started when the coach was my mobile office). Until I had to put in a bigger inverter to run other things, I used to run the printer on a 60 watt plug in inverter and it was not even really modified square wave. Ink jet use very little power. That is just one reason for carrying it instead of any laser printer. (And it is about 80# lighter than our laser.)

Look at the power tag. It will tell you what it wants and as all ink jets have internal switching power supplies, they are typically not fussy about power at all. Do try it before you have to run it on the inverter you chose. I have had problems with switching power supplies on inverters, it is rare, but it does happen.

Is the inverter PSW? Printers was one of the things that were a no-no with MSW.

Mex,

I'm with Gde - if it's an inkjet it shouldn't be drawing much current. The scanner is an LED. And tge printer doesn't draw 75amps like the lasers do (or used to!).

Some of the inkjets use wall warts and have the rated amperage on them.

If you can get us amodel number, we can get you a pretty good idea of how much it'll draw.
