“Service Temporarily Unavailable”

I occasionally get this page when navigating through this RV net forum...

“Service Temporarily Unavailable - The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.

Jakarta/ISAPI/isapi_redirector/1.2.40”

It sometimes tends to go away upon a refresh - Any Ideas??

You must have mis-read what works and what doesn't. Only RV.NET users are experiencing the "Service Unavailable" You can access all of the same information using your same login credentials using 3 other URLs. I don't think it's a server issue.

These all work and you won't see the service unavailable BS:

Try https://forums.trailerlife.com Your login credentials (username and password) will work just the same there and you won't see the dreaded Service Unavailable.

The above works great - not so for RV.Net.

As somebody who has done websites/programming/neworking for 20+ years, it looks like it's either a hardware or software problem (which could be one of those painfully obvious statements). What that means is if it's hardware, then they may have outgrown the current server and need to upsize it... either more RAM, more CPU, etc. If it's a software problem, it could be an issue in Windows itself (or whatever the OS is), or it could be an issue with ColdFusion, the middleware that serves the forum pages.

The way these Service Unavailable errors are appearing and disappearing almost makes me think they have it set to automatically reset itself whenever it happens... which causes a delay while the service (the webserver or ColdFusion in this case) restarts itself.

A client I recently did some work for ran a CMS on ColdFusion on an OLD 32-bit version of Windows, and it had all kinds of problems. If they're trying to do the same thing here, then it's definitely time to upgrade.

Since the error is happening on multiple sites, it just means that the same server(s) are used for those sites as well.

If any of the "powers that be" need help with this, they should feel free to contact me, as I can help diagnose the exact problem and recommend a solution.

BTW, even trying to make this post I'm getting the errors, so it may end up double-posting.

It's no doubt the systems a mess right now. I'm not sure how many different ways there are of accessing it but all these work with your present login credentials:

https://forums.trailerlife.com/

http://forums.goodsamclub.com/

https://forums.motorhome.com/

Only using RV.net is giving the troubles.

Thanks for that info. I made a duplicate post this morning because when I clicked on Submit to enter my post I got the “Service Temporarily Unavailable” so I entered it again using Safari instead of Firefox, then both posts showed up.

I started having similar issues a week or so ago.

I go on to something else. Try to come back later. Some days/times are worse than others. Tonight I've had only one failure.

Wondering if the storms here in the middle have impacted some internet servers or connections. We are in Springfield MO at a KOA. Have had good internet via campground WIFI and Verizon mobile both. After the storms yesterday, both connections are flakey, dropping in and out, and a lot of "unable to connect" messages. Have talked to others that are having the same problems today in the area. Had to go out to the store earlier today, and experienced the same problem. Of course, ISPs and Wireless providers will never admit it. Hope they get it fixed quickly.

It started to do this to me the last few weeks. It looks like we have outgrown the system. It is worse in the evening than in the meddle of the day.
