Having an issue with the toilet . Flush the toilet & after the trap empties the bowl and closes, water slowly runs / drips out of the outlet into the bowl . Last night it overflowed and flooded the floor. Flush handle seems fine and the problem only happened twice before but I got it emptied in time. Any idea on how to remedy this issue ??

thanks Larry

I just last week had to do a fix, for the same problem with the Thetford Style II toilet in our fifth wheel. There are at least half a dozen different water valves used in the different models. We were in Orlando, connected to the campground water when my wife yelled that the toilet was over flowing. I tried everything but nothing worked. Last trip out, it had worked fine. Camping world had the needed parts, Amazon also carries the parts, si I removed the toilet from the floor, two nuts and disconnect the fresh water connection. It was much easier to work on setting on my pickup tailgate. Parts cost was less than $20 plus fuel to go buy them.

I plan to install an off-on valve in the water supply line to the toilet, so if it happens again, we can still have water in the shower and kitchen.

Replace the water valve assembly on the back of the toilet. This will fix the problem.

To remedy the issue of flooding the floor, try turning the pump off after each use ๐Ÿ™‚

You may have depending on the water supply sediment built up at the valve seat. Try pushing your peddle down and let it slam shut do this several times and you may knock the offending material out of the valve seat. It worked for me.

This is a common problem with the Thetford. Even lifting the pedal with your foot after flushing doesn't guarantee it won't leak. The second time it flooded us out I replaced it with a Dometic 320. *MUCH* nicer toilet!!!

Lift a little on the lever with your foot after flush. Should help until you can fix.

The water valve is leaking. What model of Thetford do you have? If you go on line to Thetford they have some FAQs about problems and parts list.
