Toilet seal

Hi -
The seal on our RV toilet isn't holding water in the toilet for longer then 5-6 hours. I've tried cleaning it - its not the easiest thing to access to clean. I purchased some toilet seal lubricant/conditioner and let that sit in it for several hours. That seemed to help but still not completely fix the problem.

Any thoughts or advice? Thank you.

It's amazing that people continue to suggest Vasoline for the toilet seal. It has been posted in numerous threads that NO petroleum product should be used on the seal. Try olive oil, cooking oil or silicone plumbers grease.

The seal in my Aqua Magic V toilet lost the seal. I removed it and found it had some calcium deposits on it. I scraped the deposits off and replaced it. It has been fine for 3 years now. It wasn't a hard job but it was messy. Do it in a place you can hose off, and want the grass to grow better.

You can either remove the seal and clean it, which sometimes works, or replace it DIY for about $9.00. A part of the problem is the build up on the valve which should also be cleaned,or replaced.
Being a full timer I carry an extra seal and it takes me less than an hour to replace.
I also have a very stiff toothbrush that I have heated and bent to reach inside and clean the seal on the underside.
