Freezer is cold; -9C (15F)

Fridge is way too warm, +14C (57F) and rising with the ambient temp: 29C (84F)

We are in southern Mexico. No parts or service here. We are supposed to be on the road to PV in the morning.

Fins? That means coolant. SHUT THE UNIT DOWN FOR TWO DAYS the re-start. Sometimes manufacturing slag can slowly but surely percolate upward blocking an orifice. Shutting the unit down allows the slag to slowly but surely droop through the liquid and back down to the bottom.

Restart, and it may well work good for months and months again.

Old-Biscuit: Would that be the air temp in the freezer or temperature on the back wall? You probably didn't see my edit: the back wall of the freezer varied from 2.3 to 4.0 depending on which part I hit with the IR. The right hand freezer has about a 1/2 inch of ice/frost on the top half of the back wall. The left hand freezer, where I took the measurements is clear of ice, I deiced that compartment a few days ago. It gets frosty because that is where we make and store the ice cubes.

I do think my fans have failed. I'll climb up and see what I can see. Of course I have just stowed and locked the ladder!

I did have both vent covers off for the last month or so to help with ventilation and just put them back on a day or two ago. I don't know when the fans quit. Funny how you don't notice when a sound isn't there. We always have either the air conditioner or vent fans running so there is always fan noise.

The only way to get to the two fans that all 1200's have is to slide the unit onto a platform on the inside. There is not a separate fuse for the fans and the Tstat is located near the fans so you cannot get to it either without pulling the unit into the MH. Put a fan in the opening and see if this helps as it cannot hurt anything.

Incorrect. A blocked cooling unit will still freeze the freezer and not cool the bottom. The blockage is AFTER the freezer coil sections on most cooling units. This is why some cannot believe they have a defective cooling unit. Doug

Actually the freezer is NOT OK.
Freeze temps should be below 10*F before food section can start cooling.

Your cooling unit is NOT functioning properly.

Are you on electric........low AC voltage/bad heater/lack of cooling air flow
Are you on propane........is flame ON./lack of cooling air flow
Can you swap between electric & gas?

The cooling fans are located near top of fridge/roof vent---top vent in slide-out.
They are thermostat controlled......snap disc on upper condenser fin.
T-stat closes at 130*F (tubing temp) starting fans. Opens at 115*F stopping fans

Absorption fridges cool or don't----no in between (freezer cooling and food section not)

Fridge has been "on" since October, except that we usually turn it off when driving because we don't usually drive with the propane on. parked here for three months with fridge on except for a couple of hours last week when I de=iced one side of the freezer.

We can usually hear the fans when seated at the dinette and hear them turn off and on when opening and closing the doors. Now no change in sound.

How long has the unit been on? My units has no fans to hear. Are you sure yours does? Do you have the typical absorption type fridge? If so, there may not be any fans unless you or someone added them.

Near as I can tell there are no fans running. Are they accessible? Is there a fuse to check anywhere? Don't see anything from the outside.

Freezer should be BELOW 10 degrees. Your freezer is not to temp. Your refer also is not to temp. If your fans are not running, then the refer will not cool correctly. Turn the refer OFF. Then restart, IF the system is not operating correctly (fans inop or other problem) you will get a NO CO trip code. Post if this happens. DO NOT RESET and RESTART if you get the NO CO code. If you do and it throws the 2nd NO CO, you will have to have someone reset the main control board. To see if the fans are the problem, remove the outside access door and take a 120 voolt fan blowing UPWARDS from the bottom. If the refer cools corectly, your fans are the problem. The refer has to be pulled to troubleshoot and repai fan problems. Doug

Temps were taken using a thermometer remote so would be air temp. I just checked the back wall using an IR thermometer: 3.9F

Fins in fridge are now very warm, 65F using the IR thermometer.

Can't hear the fans running, but it's not exactly quiet with the neighbour's AC running.

Recall box, red light not on. Stack temp 175F


So the unit is cooling, it's just not getting down to the fridge part from the freezer.

Quieter now--no fans running.

Can you hear your outside fans running? At 84F they should be running. If not take the outside vent cover off and put a fan in the opening. 15 is not "very cold" as it needs to be closer to 5F measured on the back wall. Is the red light on the recall box outside?
