4 Season TT Generator Ready

Hey there, looking for some thoughts on a TT that is 4 seasons & generator ready. I've only found a couple brands ... Bigfoot, Nash, Arctic Fox. All a little on the pricey side, but we will be living for several months a year in retirement in it. Would like no longer then 28ft if possible.

Any ideas?

Generator ready implies you are looking for a travel trailer that has a cavity for the generator and an automatic transfer switch. Hard to find in a travel trailer. The only one that I have ever run across is Excel travel trailer. Guaranteed to -10* and has a generator. Excels are not cheap and they do not make travel trailers anymore.

I chose to build in mainly because I camp in the desert and nascar, etc. where we have no hookups but the daytime temps can be hot. I go spoiled with one in the motorhome, so had to have on in the TT. Too many honda portables get stolen at large events, even when chained up.

I own a Bigfoot 27' with LP generator built in. I would say it is more or less used randomly or seldom. That is only because I usually go to sites with full hookups.

If I was going dry camping I would bring along the Honda EU2000i to run more than 1/2 hour. The Onan Microlite does suck propane at a rate much more than the Honda uses gas, and is louder. Of course you can run it once a year and it never gums up! Just ran mine the other day for the first time in a year and drove around with it and the AC on while I took it to the car wash.

You can pull up to your campsite with no hookups and it starts pouring rain and 85 degrees........you just push the button and fire up the Onan and the AC while not getting wet.
Also great if you just want to run the microwave for 10 min at the rest stop for a quick lunch, not having to drag out the Honda and cables and have it get stolen.
If I ever got another trailer it would include a gen.

I saw one genny that was mounted on a rack, (sold by camping world)mounted over the LP tanks on the tounge. He also had it set up to start the genny from inside the TT. Pretty nice set up. I believe the rack was rated to support 350 lbs.

Yep, sure does explain it better. Problem is in my 30 years of use I have never seen nor heard of a TT having the space or ventilation requirements necessary for a built in Genny not to mention fuel ability. Good luck and let us know if find something, that would be cool.

Actually, they are offered now with Bigfoot (out of my price range new!!) and Nash/Arctic Fox as options, but I don't care for the Nash & Arctic Fox doesn't have the floor plan we care for. Maybe finding a "newer" Bigfoot where the option was considered with the original owner might have to be the way! We've got a couple of years to decide, so I'll keep my eyes open.
But being able to just flip a switch on the interior the TT is very appealing to us.

I don't have any insight into a generator ready TT. Depending on your tow vehicle and where your weights come in, there are some nice options for mounting and running a generator on the tongue of the trailer. I would find the four season and floor plan you like and then mod for the generator.

Finding a generator ready TT is going to be a real challenge. You might add Lance (also pricey) to your list. They're 4 Season, as well as Outdoor RV (I think they're 4 season too)

I see you're in Edmonton!! Small world eh!! No, not necessarily Calgary area, but do like camping in the mountains and found our Wildwood drain pipes froze last fall in Banff when the temps dropped to -10C. So we're thinking of upgrading in the next couple of years to something a little better quality, but finding a "generator ready" TT is proving to be challenging to say the least. Any opinions on that?
