We are going to a wine fest and the area we are camping has 50 Amp electric service, our rig takes 30 Amp service. If I purchase an adaptor from 50 Amp (male) to 30 Amp (female), will it be ok? I am not sure if the 20 extra amps will harm anything..

Thanks in advance.

You will be fine. You will still be limited to the 30 amps your RV systems are wired for.

Amps are watts divided by volts. More available Amps are better. Think of the wall outlets in your home - most are probably on 15 Amp circuits, but you may have a few on 20 Amp circuits. You can run more power hungry appliances on the 20 Amp circuits than on the 15 Amp circuits. As long as you get the proper adaptor, the "extra Amps" won't hurt anything.
