Axle Flip Arctic Fox 22G

Anyone own a Arctic Fox 22G. I've ordered one sight unseen. Nearest dealer with one on the lot is about six hr away. I've read where they set low to the ground. I'm thinking about flipping the axles. For those who own one, do you think this is necessary/good idea? I'll be traveling Forest/BLM road to camp.

I hoped the dealer understands that the correct method is "spring over axle" conversion, not "flipping the axles".

The 22G looks to be lower than our 25Y for sure.

I had a Nash 22GQ. Pretty much the same TT. I towed it to the Canadian arctic stock height with no problems. I did later do an axle flip because I wanted more clearance for off road. Just used one of the steps with the folding legs for a first step. Had 4 one ft. 4X4's that I threw under the stab jacks. No noticeable difference towing. Recently replaced the front steps on my Arctic Fox 29V. No easy job. The original step is welded very securely in place and very difficult to cut out.

The price difference between what we agreed and MSRP came to 20% below MSRP. I've made a few changes to the original options without any up-charges. Dealer installed items that I added later were the axle flip and solar panels. Cost of the Axle flip is a little high, the solar was just a little more then what I would have to pay if I bought them myself.

I am assuming that you are saying that northwood will not swap the steps for you. The way i would negotiate that deal is with the dealer. I would say OK ill pay for the axle flip but you will swap the 3 step for the 2step for me at no charge. If they say no id say keep the trailer i will buy it at another dealer who will do it. Im a tyrant when it comes to negotiating and i would not be paying for either lol. Who knows though, maybe you got 10K off MSRP. You are making a wise choice with that quality trailer though. I will tell you this from experience though, most dealers will do anything to sell an RV. In January you would think they would completely bend over backwards to sell one.

Already asked about switching out the steps. They won't do it. Comparing the 22G to the Nash in the pic. If you raise the 22G 4" it looks close to the height of the Nash. I don't think it will effect my MPG much if any. I did order the Lo-Pro AC. Because it about 5" shorter then the standard AC it improves gas mileage.
Either raising the 22G 4" or installing the Lo-Pro AC really won't make any difference i MPG IMHO.
My Tundra TRD 4x4 sits pretty high. I also have airbags if I need a little lift.

I also agree with above posters about not doing it unless you really need to. Like if your going to be going down some rough roads or something. Will negatively affect your gas mileage and also hitch height will be very high. Beauty trailer tho, you will love it!

dealer price is high. we had one done to our Salem for 300. check Trailer repair shops

$750 seems high to me also, but I'd rather get it done at the dealer I'm buying from. I was also told the shocks mounts would have to be relocated. So maybe there is more to it then just "flipping" the axles.

I had my 22h flipped, 2012 AF added 4.5" no issues plenty of clearance

Drtrash: Did you have any problems with the steps? Where they up to high? Could you share a couple of photos of your 22H.

Get them to throw on the 3step they use on the higher Nash trailers instead of the 2 step. Since your ordering it, or, have the dealer swap them for you. In an above photo you can see a pic of a nash in the background with the 3steps out which gives you an idea.

For the spring shock mounts I merely cut, heated, bent, and welded a piece in the triangular gap. These were the factory underslung mounts. I was able to use the original shocks and the upper mounts.
