Just made it home from 8 days on the road. Four nights of which were spent boondocking up in the Black Balsam Parking Lot (35.325525,-82.882007). Wife now wonders why we were paying $20/night to stay in a campground without hookups or views before now. (Thanks gov shutdown :B). Hiked at least four 5,000 ft peaks and managed to squeeze in a sunset between the unusual amount of fog.

Truck finally did great which was about time since I lost camping August and September due to clutch and vibration issues.

Sorry for the tease, okay, not really. Pics and report will follow within the week. Just need to go through about 1,000 pics.

Just got back from there myself, 4 days in the truck camper and rode out from home base each day over 300 miles on the motorcycle.

Was a wet few days but warm and dry in the Lance...

A lot of the leaves this year just turned brown, but still a lot of color in places. Graveyard Fields is past peak, Mt Pisgah area should be near peak this weekend. I think if you wait too much longer, there won't be any leaves above 3,000 ft, at least below Ashville. Even in Waynesville things were starting to turn.

So how are the leaves? We are thinking of a weekend trip this coming weekend. Might defer to the following week if its not too late.

Looking forward to the trip report.
