I am looking for some ideas for adding sides to one of the lower bunk beds in my trailer. I have a moose of a 14 month old that will be sleeping in one of the bunks so it need so be solid and have some kind of gate or door I can open to get him out.

I bought a small pickup Tailgate Net and set it up for the top bunk when we had a bunk house. Worked great.

I used a piece of thin plywood. covered it in some padding and outdoor themed material. then I attached it to the back side of the existing panel that keeps the mattress in place. has worked great for the last 9 years!

I would use a store bought one like the above poster suggests, especially for such a young guy. I made one out of pvc pipe and extra fabric for my daughter but she was older and I wasn't so worried she'd roll into it and suffocate.

You tuck them under the mattress so it's easy to add.
