I'm looking for a travel trailer, down to a 2013 outback 274rb or a 2011 Rockwood 8319ss. I like the outback and it's cheaper but is the Rockwood that much better?

Well they are 2 completely different floor plans, so I think it really comes down to which one you like better and works for you. The Rockwood looks like it's got a lot more sitting/living room area and a bigger bedroom, but its one heck of a big trailer at almost 33 feet, I'm sure your 2500 Ram wont have a problem.

The Outback looks nice and is newer and their quality is quite good, but so is Rockwood.

I would also consider how many people it needs to sleep on a regular basis, there isn't much room for other family members unless it's just 2 of you, in which case both should offer enough room with the Rockwood having the most room.

well I went and looked at the outback, 6 hr drive, got there and the panel on the back had a small dent in the aluminum trim at the top so I pushed on the wall because it had a slight bow to it and it was loose, he told me it was suppose to be that way but I wasn't buying it. so I ended up getting a salem 271rbxl instead

We had a 2007 Outback. Other than a design flaw with the rear slide-out (which Keystone admitted and fixed in later models), it was great. Really quality unit. All aluminum, heavy-duty cabinets, porcelain toilet, etc. Seemed very durable and well-made. Had no issues the whole time we owned it other than the rear-slide.

In general I put the Outback higher level of equipment and materials than Rockwood Signatures.

Price is one factor when comparing brands. But if they are close in price, compare their floor layout next. Picking incorrect floor layout always creates regrets later. For me, I like the floor plans that allow the removal of short RV queen and replacement of normal house queen bed. re: Lots of space at foot of bed for longer mattress. And, I like a sitting area that isn't awkward either. Kitchen counter space is a factor. If open floor space, perhaps a little portable island can be used - to create more kitchen counter top space. In the end, its the sum of the many little things that matter.

Hope this helps.

We love our Outback and it's been great but I like Rockwoods too. Sorry, guess I didn't help much!:S
