I just became a member and was going through some of the stories. Very excited to become part of this community.

Matt Nolan, 24 years old. Richmond VA

I have been building a home made teardrop camper the last few months. July 1st I will be departing on a few month journey to the National Parks across the USA. If anyone is interested in my adventure please check out
http://theteardropdiaries.tumblr.com

or if anyone has built a trailer of their own or have questions please feel free to contact me.

This trailer has turned into a lot more than just me "building the trailer" it has became a window for adventure. I am very excited to start my journey. Thanks for hearing about my adventure..

Cheers!!

Loving your teardrop and especially the "moon roof". I can imagine the space filled with starlight and waking up to the rays of the sun:).

Nice work!
Come visit me in Sequoia National Park. I'll be hosting all summer in Dorst Creek CG. No reservations this summer, it's first come, first served because of lack of water. We may have to close early before the scheduled 9/2 close.

Very nice work! I have to have my A/C, though! Bring lots of spare tires for that trailer.

Nice work!

This gal also has a Teardrop and travels extensively. Her website is really well done with lots of tips and chronicling of her adventures. I see that she has a solar panel on the top and besides the advantage of free power, it probably offers some shade.

Outstanding Job !
I am envious of your adventure .
What is the payload of your trailer frame ?
What is the actual weight of your Teardrop so far ?

Definitely need AC in the south during summer. Camping in stifling heat would not be my idea of a good time.

I spent time in Brick NJ after hurricane Sandy came through, I'm a paramedic and was there for relief efforts. I was taken back by how nice and welcoming everyone there was. Everyone treated us so well.

What are you using for insulation, and will there be a small A/C unit? I've seen teardrops with them built right into the wall, and are removable so a window snaps into place when it's out.

Thanks for the support everyone!

I have a 3 speed vent fan all ready to be installed! I was thinking the same thing and became deathly afraid of the temperatures in the southwest. It will definitely be a very needed. Appreciate it!

( I am also from the New Jersey Shore) and will be moving back after my trip. Brick, NJ

Thanks!

As a wood worker myself I'm impressed with the job you are doing. Looking forward to seeing pictures of the completed build.

Your trip plan looks like a great adventure. My only concern would be with trying to sleep in the teardrop with the high temps and humidities in the southern states in July. Hopefully you are planning to install fans for some good cross ventilation.

Very cool site and awesome looking teardrop! I wish I had that ability, but if I were to get near a project like that it would spontaneously combust! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Keep us updated on the remainder of the work and be sure to post picks of the experience along your route.
