Hey
Are there any Carriage Domani owners out there? I have had my DT30000 since new at 2009. I am now going to upgrade it and am checking to see what others have done. I am open to any suggestions or comments.
My list so far is:
Adding another A/C unit (13,5 or 15,0..not sure yet)
Big Foot leveling sysytem (probably 4 point)
Plug it Right stabilizers
Audio/Video systems thru-ought (surround sound & flats)
Satellite dish roof mount
Carefree awning on left side w/sunshade screen (rather than slide topper)
Upholstery/Replace existing sofa sleeper and 2 parlor chairs
Replace belly skin (for easier access)
Tow hitch for double tow golf cart (allowed in TX up to 65')
Rear camera
Additional storage (somehow)
Tire pressure sensor system

Hi All, it's been a long while since anyone posted on this thread, but, if you still have your Carriage Domani, my hubby started a Facebook group where we can all gather, share ideas, questions, etc. If you're interested in joining the Carriage Domani RV owners Facebook group, it can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/223333459051181/

I had to replace bulbs in the door fixture and yes you have to slice away the caulking and replace with clear silicone. It was easy to do.

We have been thinking about replacing or recovering our furniture. Does the side couch fold into a bed or just a couch? Any problems getting it through the door?

Welcome to the forum from another Domani owner.

Just like the OEM beige furniture easily came apart in pieces to get through the door, generally IKEA stuff is the same way! My couch came in three boxes, I think, but it comes apart in four pieces, the arms, the back, then the bottom, so it was easy to get it all in separate, and no, it doesn't have a bed, it's just a couch. I never cared to have extra beds in my homes, so I don't need one in my tiny home now. I might let someone crash and they can sleep on the couch, more like a real home, IMO.

Hello. I have the Vetta DF300, and it's my most favorite thing, ever. I studied all the floor plans, and liked this one with the side kitchen the best, and like how the slides are on the other side, not encumbrancing into my porch area, or under the electric awning.

There is so much room in the bedroom, with big areas on the furniture, because of the brilliant way everything is skewed. I love it so much. Favorite ever and I will never part with it.

I immediately replaced all the beige furniture with black IKEA stuff, that was much lighterweight and more comfortable. I like the color better too.

Anybody know how to change the bulbs in the light above the entry door, outside? I took the two screws out, but I guess now I have to cut into the caulking, but don't really want to, but I guess I'll ahve to. Doesn't seem to be any other way to access its innards.

I got our jack knife sofa done in high quality naugahyde for $1,800. Very happy with it. I ditched the big retro chairs and bought 2 heated swivel rocker recliners that match perfect on sale at Camping World for $499 ea. I am thinking about new carpet as well. Have you thought through how difficult it will be to replace with the slide out?

Sorry for my super late reply... we've only gotten one estimate so far, and it was going to be about $3000, so we're still looking. We'd like to go two-tone also and maybe something other than the ultra leather, or whatever they call it? I want to upgrade the carpet as well, so I'd like to do it all at one time.

So excited to find this post, the hubby and I were just wondering how many Domani's were still out there. We are also in So Cal, have the DF300 since 2007 (it's a 2008 model). This is our fourth RV and we're still so in love with it. We've put many miles on it and it's still going strong. It's time to re-upholster the sofas tho if anyone has any great recommendations.

Glad you found us too.

I was thinking of going to a microfiber material. Anyone have any information on using microfiber for RV upholstery?

We had the same upholstery issue with our DT3000. Frankly the stuff is low grade quality. We replaced the 2 chairs with recliners that swivel/rock for more flexibility and ease when pulling in the slide-out. We then re-upholstered the sofa to match (espresso in color w/lite tan stitching) the chairs ($1,800) with quality material and get away from the cream colored stuff. Very happy with what we did.

I would add pics but can't see how....sorry

Our leather is going downhill fast as well. The backs are in fine shape but the cushions are cracking bad. Thought about going two tone and just doing the cushions. Please flag me and let me know via private message as to your research on costs.

Thanks - Durb

Yes, we have the side kitchen with rear couch. 24 nights so far and over 3,000 miles; really enjoying it.

Stephan and Martin, I would be interested in how your first trips went. I had some towing set up problems that I needed to address to reduce chucking. Perfect now.

Kevin, that is a Badazz bumper pull. I'll bet you are the center of attention at the CG. Good luck with your ambitious mods.

So what did you do about the chucking?

I originally bought a Patriot hitch that was 16" in its lowest position and that left me nose high about 2 inches. I think it was a perfect storm of nose high, TorrFlex axles and a short wheelbase that caused severe chucking. Solution - stand back and throw money at it. I went with a TrailerSaver air hitch that is 14" high that served to level the trailer. The TS3 sucks up all the other niggles and nasties to create a really nice tow. Just got back today from Kahneeta and traveled some rough roads on the Indian Reservation plus dealt with road construction on Mount Hood. The TrailerSaver delivered a really nice ride over some major bumps and holes.

Brian at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Carriage_RV/ has solved the mystery switch puzzle:

I found out where the switch goes. There is a single ceiling light in the alcove above the radio above the curved shelves. I can't reach it to replace the bulb but that is what the switch operates. Wohoo. What fun puzzling out a used rig!!!

As it turns out the Carefree topper will not work on my DT3000. Camping World ordered it as a special order custom fit to find that the fridge vent & window are in the way. So, CW had to eat expense and reorder a custom fit Dometic. It should be installed next week. I agree, a topper is a must for lots of reasons. Debris, heavy rain, pounding hot sun, etc. I'm hoping this new install works out. My 18' slide has a large flange that I may have to trim on the corners to prevent snagging on the topper material.
