Door ideas for rear bunk area on jayco swift 267BHS??

Hello!

We have a jayco swift 267BHS and our 3 year old sleeps in the bottom bunk in the bunk "room." She does ok, but we put a curtain track on the ceiling and a fairly heavy fabric curtain on it to block off the opening from the main living area to the back room (see pic below). It does ok, but she will still come to the end of her bunk and open the curtain and talk to us or disturb her 20 month old sister sleeping in the living room (not old enough to sleep in bottom bunk with sister or to sleep in top bunk yet). SO, all that to say, we are looking for other ideas for a door of sorts for this opening. Sliding doesn't work due to lack of space so that option is out. And a normal swinging door would be in the way when. The slide is in and wouldn't allow easy access to back room and bathroom when slide is in. And the swinging would just be in the way while camping. I guess the only option is an accordion door maybe? Any other options? Looking for something that is a little more solid than a curtain and something that latches somehow. It also helps when someone is taking a shower. The toilet/shower room is a little small when that door is closed so with the new "door", whatever that will be will be, nice when you take a shower. You'll be able to leave the bathroom door open and get the cool air and have more room.

Anyway, this is the opening in question... what are your thoughts/ideas? Thanks all!!!

Sounds like normal kids to me . Second time camping , my 3 year old got up at 3 am tried to go outside because he wanted to play . This is also the boy who would fall out of the bed every time we went camping . The wife would get up and put him back , when she got tired of it she asked me to do it . I went over to him threw a blanket on him and told the wife , we can sleep now , he cant fall off the floor

It's next chapter time for me. 2 girls aged 4 and 8 from previous marriage and a girlfriend with a 10 year old.

Two time dad here camping with my daughters since birth. Pups and hybrid were used. Curtains and separate beds. Kids got there own unique sleeping areas. Nobody complained.

Thanks all. Just wanted to clarify, this is at bed time when we put her to bed, younger sister to bed and we go to bed. I know she is excited, I get that and we've had fun all day, she just wants to keep peeking out keeping her sister and us awake. She is good at staying in her bed, but she walks down her bed and can still stick her head out. 🙂

Remember. You are "camping" and she is excited. I would not in any way want to confine her in a small space. She just wants to be part of what is going on.

And again. You are camping, not in your house. So concessions must be made. Some things have to be worked around.

I've yet to meet the 3 yr old that could be confined by anything less than a padlock. Just do your best to teach her to be quiet and now wake up the younger child.

Sorry Dad! Being the parent of a boy and a girl, and now a 5-time grandparent, take it from someone who has "been there... done that!"... and actually still "doing it" since our adult son is living with us again with his 3 year old son too.... Face it... 3 year olds just can't be confined!

To save your sanity, let the kids sleep in your bed and then once asleep, move them to their bed. They are little only once. And once they are grown, you never get those precious moments back. Let them be little as long as they can be.

Yea, you have no privacy. But ... eventually they DO go to sleep! Start earlier in the evening and if necessary, get them up earlier in the morning.

Also, when it comes to camping, in the camper ... especially at THAT age, they are SO excited! Face it ... they never sleep!

Even an accordion style door will not sound proof their sleeping quarters. The 3 year old will still figure out how to open it, still taunt the 2 year old, and still want to keep the conversation going with you, to avoid sleep and to not miss anything, This is just the nature of a 3 year old.

Don't worry, when they are 13, you won't be able to install ENOUGH door! And all they'll do is slam it, yelling ... "I hate you!" And then you'll wonder what happened to that little angel, so innocently popping their head out from behind that curtain, saying, "HI Mommie! HI Daddy! HI sister! Hi! HI! HI!"

No doors will sound proof in a camper. No doors will keep a 3 year old contained. The curtain is the best. They don't panic behind curtains. Closed door and 3 year old' go nuts! Spare yourself the agony! Keep the curtain.

I know ... been there, done that ... 7 times now!
