Down sizing LP tanks and adding scissor jacks

Good evening, i am contemplating down sizing my LP tanks from the 2 /30# to 2/20# - I installed an A-frame cargo tray (cc-255 from Stromberg Carlson) and the clearance between tanks and tray is limited but not a real issue. The issue is finding a place to fill my tanks around where i live without having to drive ten miles; by switching to the 20# tanks i will be able to exchange tanks when ever and where ever needed. Any one of you have done the change to smaller tanks?

Also, Our TT when we are set up still has a lot of movement and the wife has mentioned it several times already( you know how it goes :C)(this camper moves a lot more than the one we had). Has any of you guys have added an extra set of scissor jacks at the middle section of your TT in front of the wheels? ( i have seen FW with 3 sets of jacks but no TT) If done, can this help eliminate some of the movement?
Thank you.

Scissor jacks may take some of the bounce out but they don't do much for movement, especially when they are all aligned the same. I installed a set of JT Strongarms and that elimated just about all the movement, even from the kids running around. I'll never have another tt without them.

I just went through this myself when the valves on BOTH of my 30# tanks failed. New valves are like $30 each. I had a 20# tank and the gas co gave me an expired 20# tank for free. I can still get them filled cheap when I want but I can exchange them if no filling station is available and if a valve fails again, I can just do an exchange and let the blue rhino or Amerigas people deal with it on their inspection. After all, that's why we pay a higher price for the exchange.

Well lets see......

Blue Rhino 15# (20# cylinder only filled with less than 4 gallons) at $20 per cylinder exchange

30# cylinder refill (7 gallons) at $3 per gallon...$21

So for $1 more you get 3 gallons more of propane (or $2 more and get 6 gallons more with two cylinders)

Exchange is HIGH Dollar propane.......for LESS

We Full Timed Travel for 7 yrs and NEVER had problem finding a place to fill our 30# cylinders.

Just don't see the benefit to 'exchange'

BUT like '3oaks' we have to go 15 miles to reach 'town limits'

As for adding jacks..........
Anything that limits/stops wheel/suspension bounce helps
Is it time for your medication or mine?

Without driving ten miles? We have to drive 17 miles just to get to a grocery store. Not complaining, we love living out "away from it all". 🙂

I'd like to swap you my 20s for your 30s.

As for the movement. You can also get X-Chocks for between the wheels. As to more stabilizers. Yes that will help. anytime you can stop the bounce at the springs, It will help stabilize the TT.
