F-250 Needs New Shoes

I purchased used a 2006 Ford F-250 SD (gas)about 4 years ago. I checked the tire mfg date on the tires last week and they were made in Feb 2010.UGH!! I have only driven this truck about 16,000 miles since buying it and can't forsee using it any more than that in the next 4 years..I do tow a 26' Travel Trailer (hitch pull) about once a month but ususally less than 100 / 150 miles round trip. I don't want to break the bank on new expensive tires that I will never get my moneys worth / mileage out of.. Local tire dealers started out by trying to sell me the top of the line tires BUT then I made them understand my intent.. So far I have found the following tires that might fit what I want, but know little about them...Anyone have a good ot bad comment on the following 265/70R17 Load Range E, 10 ply tires..(1) Les Schwab Terrramax HT. (2) Black Lion Voracio A/T BA80+ (3) Milestar GRANTLAND. Open for ideas or suggestions.. I'm not cheap and will buy much better tires if needed BUT..

What he said. I’ve ran several different brand and will say the Falkens Wildpeak is the best tire I’ve ever ran. I do get a really good deal on tires because my son owns a automotive shop.

I've been running Hankook RH12's on my F-250. I just replaced a set on my truck that went 40K miles and still had good tread. I give my old tires to people who have old work trucks. The Hankook tires I've purchased have been US made. Price wise about $150. a tire on ebay.

Just looked up for our 2008 F250 (275/65/R18) and $650-700 installed is about the best I could come up with.

Especially with few miles, I wouldn't worry too much about brand. We've bought random off brands and never had an issue with them. Odds are with your rate of use, they will age out before you use up the tread.

I have a friend with the sailun Terramax tires from Les Schwab except the ATs. Her only comment was they drove fine and were inexpensive. I'll give them a look when I'm in the market next year. Their trailer tires have a good reputation.

I recall a post from a man that had 40k on his and he was pleased.

Look at some Yokohama's they wear like iron and American made.

All the experts says replace "old" tires. If they don't have serious dry rot and are not leaking air, just keep driving.

And there's a difference between being cheap and being frugal. Cheap is buying Milestar or similar tires. Frugal is finding a better deal. Be frugal!

Heck, the ones above even have the OE TPMS sensors in 'em. If you popped a bead and removed those, you could get another $100 probably for the sensors you don't need. I'd just leave 'em though.

Skip the tire shop, hop on Craigslist, get a set of takeoff tires or tires and wheels for about half price. That's what I'd do, especially since you only want pavement ponder tires. For the same or less money than the Chinesium **** tires you posted, you can at least have a quality name brand tire.

In 30 seconds I just found a set on WA CL. Set of 2016 275-70-18 Michelin LTX AT tires with OE aluminum rims off a 2016 F350 with 95% tread. $650

Buy those and you dont even have to go to the tire shop and you can probably get a couple hundred or more for yours if you sell em.

And 17s suck now for HD trucks since the mfgs quit making good load rated tires for 17" wheels. Better to dump em and run 18s or 20s anyway.
