Anyone know what the GVWR or axle rating thats on a 28' Gulf Stream Cavalier fema trailer? Looking to strip one down to the trailer frame and build a hunting camp back on it. Don't know what kind of axle or frame rating I'm dealing with.

And that's where I would start with such a project. The weight rating should be stamped on the axles. Then you can plan your build from there and just ignore the current GVWR.

RV trailers don't have a very robust frame rails/cross members/outrigger system as the sidewalls are part of the GVWR. Just something to keep in mind when you rebuild with new/different sidewalls.

Any way you could get the trailer to a set of scales and weigh it? Then, after you get it stripped down to the frame, weigh it again. The difference in weight is your target weight for the new build? Just a suggestion if you can't find it any other way.
