From Ram to a Ford

I posted a few weeks back about selling my 14 Ram MC DRW for a 3/4 ton Ram or Ford. I have since purchased a 2019 Ford 3/4 ton Platinum.
Here are my opinions after 2300 miles in the Ford.
Ford-
- more comfortable seats and cabin.
- smoother ride
- tons of power and pretty fast
- transmission shifts smoother then the Ram Aisan no clunking.
- massage seats are awesome
- much better sunroof.
- very nice tailgate with step

Ram
- Cummins is a better pulling motor IMO, but it was a DRW compared to a SRW and there’s no comparison, as well as different gears and the Aisan was a very good towing trans.
- better EB over the Ford
- megacab has more storage space
- better sound sound system
- some features are better then the other and vise versa.
- almost cried when they took my Ram.

I am very happy with my new Ford. I just hope I get the same reliability as my last two Rams. I’m not brand loyal because these manufactures don’t care about me or what I think. I buy the truck that feels good to me when I test drive. That’s why I choose the Ford this time around.
BTW all of these trucks are awesome but very expensive.

Before this new F250, I have owned 3 Rams with Cummins. Never thought I would change but for me the comfort of the Ford platinum seats are what sold me. I live in Texas Hill Country where most people own trucks and a lot of Diesels. I have quiet a few friends with the new Ford 6.7 and they have been very pleased. I hope this truck holds up as well as my Rams did but time will tell.

What trim level was your last RAM?

I had the laramie on my 2014 Ram. I just could not get use to the seats on the 14 and the 19. The leather on the 2019 Ram I looked at was quality no doubt and a step above the 2014 Laramie.
I didn’t have a problem with the leather it was the back sides that I just couldn’t get comfortable with. My 2007.5 Ram I had before was cloth and I liked the seats on that one.

I can’t figure out the Apple play on my new ford though. When IPhone is plugged in I can’t get to my setting or FM radio. Any ideas?

I do miss the Ford 6R140 (?) transmission very solid....Aisin good...but not as good 🙂

Turn fact, Ford's 6R140 is a very good tranny. However it appears that they like the others they have a fair amount of torque management involved in the lower gears.

14 why don't you go buy a Ford so you can have better seats and mirrors. In your opinion!

GBuilders, still want to know from YOU what the trim level was on your RAM.

I don't know if you're aware of this but, the '19 Longhorn leather is not the same quality as your Longhorn. The new '19 Longhorns leather feels like it's on par with the Laramie leather. And the brown leather is a gawdy pumkin color in which they totally screwed that up.

Have you secretly been shopping for a ‘19 Ram? :B

For the record, I find my Laramie seats just fine. I just couldn’t bring myself to go for the tacky cowboy interior. Now, the Limited I could go for, much classier!

I enjoy looking at new trucks from time to time. Was visiting my parent's on mothers day and I was test driving my moms new Ford Edge with my Dad (first Ford under that roof of a 52 year old house). We went to the Chevy, GMC, Ram, Chrysler, Buick dealer my mom retired from starting in 1966 (Was only a Chevrolet dealer at that time) to look at the new GMC trucks. Saw a new Ram Longhorn Mega cab and the doors were unlocked so decided to check it out. For me the new rams interiors are just too busy. The Longhorn seat's had at least 3 different type of finish textures. Having said that, I actually like the looks of the previous Ram Longhorn cowboy interior.

Thanks for the info. That would be the same if I went from a Laramie with leather to my current LongHorn. Simply no comparison of comfort.

Did not mention the 19’s leather. I am referrring to my 11 and 15. The 15 is superior to the 11 in leather quality. The 11 was darn nice and both superior to the Laramie.

I would not hesitate to buy a new RAM because of the new pump. I have not heard of any Ford failures for the last 2-3 model years.

YA gots 100k and 5 years of protection.

Well then you should just get the Ford with the better mirrors, and that new and improved 6.7. 🙂

Ford does not yet have a trick rear air suspension, that Ron likes..

ZACTLY

Bottom line Cummins would not have changed if they thought the pump would not hold up.

And cummins thought the emissions system on the 6.7 Blue Tec/Ram was going to hold up? That was a disaster!

Oh !! , identical seats just different covering, so instead of sitting on synthetic leather with leather trim, you are sitting on a seat with all leather , and some miracle happens , okay got it .
