Hello,
We are new to RV ing and are currently shopping. We have a gmc hd 2500 duramax diesel crew cab short bed. The Grand Design Momentum 350m has caught our eye. Do you thinking that our truck that has a 17,900 towing capacity will be sufficient to tow this RV? The RV says the GVWR (Lbs.) 16,500 lbs and UVW (Lbs.)* 13,500 lbs . Opinions?

Next question. We have experience towing a 27' boat but will be new to a fifth wheel. Any suggestions on how and where to get educated?

You need to list the trucks weight numbers GVWR, RAWR, maximum tire load. AFW will have around 20% pin weight. If you loaded that FW to 15,000 lbs, you'd have a pin around 3,000 lbs, plus another 200 lbs for a hitch. I am thinking you'd be at, or just over your RAWR, close to max tire, and obviously over your GVWR.

If you towed at the UVW of the FW, it may fit, but you can see where this is going.

Towing is not the problem, load carrying capacity is!
You simply will not have enough truck for that fifth wheel.
Depending on year, your truck has a GVWR of either 9200 or possibly 10,000 pounds. Loaded with family and stuff the truck could actually weigh north of 7500 pounds. A 17,000 pound GVWR fiver could have a pin weight of around 34-3500 pounds. See the problem?
