I am a GS member and an officer in a local chapter. Whether you should join or not depends on what you would expect to get from it. Are you wanting discounts on camping and purchases? Are you wanting emergency road service? Or on the other hand are you looking to join a club that has benefits for its members?

We belong to the Good Sam Club with the emphasis on Club. We attend state Samborees and belong to a local chapter. The Samborees are fun and offer some great entertainment at least here in Ohio. We have made some great camping friends and had a wonderful time at events.

So it all depends on what you expect to get from your membership and do you choose to be a participant.

Im in the dayton area. Got an more info on ohio things? We are new to having a trailet.

Sorry for the slow response, I've been traveling.

What would you like to know?

Ohio has lots of local chapters and there is probably one in your area. Ohio also has three state Samborees every year.

In your location, you should also check the Kentucky group. I have met several from there and they are a great bunch.

I definitely think it is worth it. When I renewed my membership this year I did it for 3 years. I really like the fuel discount at Pilot Flying J and the discount at Camping World. I use GS trip planning for longer trips.

Tex,
GS Club membership and GS Roadside Assistance are two different things.
Don't know which one you are considering but I don't think you have to be a a Good Sam member to purchase the roadside assistance.
Could be wrong on that though. We have had both for many years and can't remember back that far! :E :W

They are having a special right now on the price of the Roadside Assistance plan. The plan is for one years coverage. Call 1-800-601-2850

Barney, thank you for the number. I will give them a call.

Thanks Chris ,Jane and beemerphile. I guess I mainly want the road side assistance for flats and a tow, if I need it. I see its $69.95 right now. Is that just for roadside assistance and is it good for 1 year? Can you join over the phone? I don't do anything online.

I recently upgraded to Life membership so I guess it is worth it. You will get four copies of Trailer Life or Motorhome Life (probably choose Trailer Life since you are posting in this section). I have a yearly subscription so this didn't really benefit me. You will get lots of email and mail from Good Sam but you can choose to get it or have them stop sending. Some have had problems with too much mail but I told them what I wanted to get and what I didn't want to get and they made it happen. One benefit that I have not taken advantage of is the local chapters. Most of them have monthly camping trips, get togethers, etc. and I may end up joining a local chapter in the future. I guess it depends on what you want out of the mambership so you'll need to decide if it is worth it to you.
