Great Chevy TC service in PA

While on an extended xc trip, we had the need to service our Chevy 3500, (oil change, tire rotation, etc...). I'd planned on getting these services on the road and prefer a Chevy dealer to work on my still under warranty diesel vs a local shop. While in the Harrisburg, PA area (while loading up on chocolate at Hershey), I called multiple dealerships (5) trying to find one that would accomodate our nearly 13' high TC. I was surprised by the answers I got which ranged from "we can't fit it through our service bay door" to "you'll have to unload your camper before we can work on it".

It was looking bleak when one dealer suggested Sutliff Chevy in Harrisburg. They we're very accomodating, got us in the very next morning and didn't flinch when I noted the height and weight of our rig. They worked on the truck with the camper loaded, didn't put it on a lift and had us in/out in less than 3 hours for everything. Dave Martin, truck service mgr., was great and has a real "can do" attitude. I have no relation or affiliation with Sutliff other than being a satisfied out of state customer. Their phone is 717-232-0033.

Thanks for the report. Sutliff is within a comfortable driving distance, but I plan to keep this truck a long time.

Just curious, did you ask the places that wanted you to take it off if you could do so in their parking lot? Would've given you a place to be comfortable while they worked on it. Though you might have had to fend off shoppers. 🙂

12' door height in the service bays seems to be the normal max height.

My selling dealer accommodated me once with the camper on (for an LOF), which isn't my normal method of taking the truck in for service either.

I`m with you. I would not take it off at the dealer either.
Taking it off at home is one thing but being 2000 miles from
home is another.
Traveling with your camper is not like dropping it at the campground.

Not hard to do, but I too normally don't take my truck in for service with the TC loaded up either. Being 3,000 miles from home, loaded to the gills with stuff, I wasn't looking forward to finding a place in downtown Harrisburg to unload it. My point being, I was surprised that it took so many calls to find a dealer that would work on it as is. Some TC owners drop their rig off at every campsite, others never take them off, except at home. I fall into the latter camp, but to each their own.
