HaloView Rear View Camera

We have been using a plug and play camera from Camera Source that utilizes the dash screen in the truck. That has worked well until I accidentally broke it while under the camper overhang.

I was in the market for something better anyway now that we will have a toad. I wanted a camera that could keep an eye on the Jeep as well as what's behind it. I also wanted something with a dedicated monitor. I also wasn't thrilled with the idea of mounting to the back of the camper and drilling a hole to get to power..

After looking at various options I ended up going with the HaloView wireless system

The system features a very nice HD picture and even a DVR that loop records which could come in handy at some point if there is an accident. The monitor plugs into the lighter and operates wirelessly between the camera and monitor. Very easy install!

For the camera mounting itself I found that it worked great inside the camper looking out the rear slide window. There was also 12v power right there to tap into. Couldn't be much easier.

The camera itself mounted to the underside of the overhead cabinet.

The camera has a pretty wide angle and can catch both the tow bar as well as beyond the back of the Jeep.

There are quite a few nice features. The back up lines can be removed. The image can be mirrored either way. There is sound as well although that isn't so great. You can also purchase up to 3 more cameras that can be triggered by using your turn signals or other inputs.

So far I am pretty impressed.

Furrion makes decent camera's and monitors. About price though? Well, what one person considers cheap, the next may call it astronomical! Still, worth a look:

Other places, like your dealership, Ebay, even WallMart will vary widely on prices. Find something you like, then start comparing prices at different places.

Nice set-up and I like the option of mounting the camera inside out of the elements. Wish I would have thought of that prior to mounting my camera on the outside. It had been prewired for outside mounting but I still would have considering the inside mount had I thought of it.

Since you have rear window in the center, did you try simply things, like "fish eye" ?
My Fleetwood has rear door with bottom glass window in them for just the purpose.
Not a close-up view, but let you see the toad is still there.

We donโ€™t drive at night. If we had to and the glare was an issue I suppose we would just turn the monitor off. I honestly donโ€™t recall driving at night once in the last year on the road.
