I apologize in advance if this topic has already turned up somewhere on this forum, but, I've done numerous searches and I can't find anything on it.
We have an ALP Adventurer 86SBS Truck camper and currently use it on a Chevy Silverado 2500 4x4 long box pickup. I know, I know ... totally overloaded even with the air bags we have installed. However, we're intending to purchase a 2015 3500 4x4 Dually long box ... can't get a 2014 now because GM has apparently stopped building them. Believe it or not, we've even left that too late because it's going to take approximately 5 months from the time we place the order before we can put the key in the ignition! Totally crazy, but what can you do?
Anyway, here's the thing ... the 2014 dually has an overall width of 93 inches. The new 2015 has been totally redesigned and it took me all day before I finally found out how wide it is. GM even has a live chat which I got on and the guy told me that info wasn't even available. But, thanks to Google I did find it ... finally! http://www.hardworkingtrucks.com/files/2014/01/2015-Chevy-Silverado-3500HD-Specifications.pdf
Notice the overall width has gone up 3 inches ... it's now 96 inches!
The space between my jacks is only 93 inches, so even if I had managed to find a 2014, I would have needed the optional swing out brackets for the front jacks.. So, here's my question: Does anyone know how much extra room the Happijac swing out brackets would give me? Will I need extensions for those brackets as well? Also, if anyone is familiar with that camper, do you think there will be a problem with the clearance as far as the back end is concerned?
I sure don't want to have to drop back to a SRW 3500.
Thanks/
