How are Novacool fridges? w/ Danfoss compressor / RFS7501

Hi all

The biggest fridge that Hallmark will install in a 9.5’ pop up camper is the 7.2 CU side by side. Novacool RFS7501. It can’t be a fridge taller than this one, as the roof pops down….

Pretty sure we want a 12v / 120v only fridge…. so does not need to be level at all, ever, and also we never need to worry about changing modes on the fridge (12v / 120v / propane)

How is this fridge? Anyone have any experience with this fridge, or brand? This model uses a Danfoss compressor.

Yes we want this much capacity for extended off the grid adventures, with lots of fresh food with us.

Thanks!

J.

I should probably add that I have a Dometic CR cool box I carry in the backseat of the pickup truck and my wife uses it when grocery shopping in the summer to keep frozen food frozen. Great units.

Which model and where did you buy it?

The one just below the largest capacity with the 2 lids and dedicated freezer compartment. I bought it on Amazon, came from West Marine if I remember correctly. Very nice unit. MY wife loves it for grocery shopping on hot summer days.

Keeps the ice cream hard and the frozen stuff frozen. We live 25 miles from the grocery store.

Been flawless but I would suggest getting the overcoat as well.

Does anyone know what model would be a good replacement for a RM2652?

Thanks

My only regret with our new TC is that I didn't get the optional Nova Kool fridge. Heard many good things about them.

You can refit your Host. All you need in the backend is 12 volt power and 110 which you have both. Put your 3 way on Flea Bay. Always a marked for an ammonia fridge and plenty poop out every year.

You'd think RV builders would wise up ad offer compressor fridges as an option.

rfu9000 since 2011, flawless but you need sufficient battery capacity to support it plus one of those d cell squirrel cage fans in frig and freezer is essential (probably true of any cold plate type unit). My tc builder forgot the 120v circuit board, novalcool was great to work with to acquire and answer future questions.

We had the exact same fridge in our TC for 5 years. I have photos of us parking our truck on quite the angle for over 6 hours as we went on a hike and never any problems. Much of our boondocking was on unlevel ground. One very nice thing about the compressor fridges vs absorption is that for the same outside dimensions, they have 1/3 more volume.

We had no issues with this unit. Our camping was 99% dry and as long as you have enough battery storage and solar( we had 4 AGM 6V batts and 330W solar), we didn't even run the genny.
Turn it on and within 1/2 hour, the freezer is frosty.

If our 6cuft absorption fridge conks out in our trailer, I would replace it with a NovaKool 9cuft fridge( same outside dimension) in a heart beat
Check out our trip reports on our blog, 2011-2016.

No longer Danfoss, It's Waeco. No issue though, all excellent units. You might want to check out the Dometic line (Waeco) as well). West Marine sells them.

I'm considering yanking my absorbtion unit (3 years old) and replacing it with a compressor fridge. Much better than any 'Amish' fridge, especially in warm to hot weather.

I have a NovaCool 12 volt/120 volt in my Class B. It is flawless and far superior to the gas absorption refrigerators. The only downside is they do consume battery power, so recharging every few days is mandatory.

I cannot tell you about the Novacool fridge but I have a Tundra fridge with the Danfoss compressor and it's been working great since I installed it in my Outfitter about 15 years or more ago.

I installed it for the same reasons you mention and am very happy with it.
