I believe I complimented your rig some time ago.

Selective memory perhaps?

May be a little late in this thread to get an answer, but I am wondering about the available trailer camera system. It appears it is maybe geared for a bumper pull trailer. I watched a few videos on it and nothing was said about a fifth wheel. The idea of having a rear mounted camera that works with the display screen seems good. Also, the side mounted cameras might be nice for backing but hard to tell. Wondering if anyone has any experience with it.

There is an optional trailer camera and it will work with a fifth wheel. It is hard wired and the plug in on the truck is in the bumper by the license plate.

And yes, the rear cameras in the mirrors will help in backing. It will show down both sides of the fiver on the center screen at the same time. I am still getting use to them, but it is nice looking in one spot to see both sides of the trailer.

LARRY, without a Blue Oval you are not allowed in his "shine and show" ratings!

Probably going to place an order tomorrow for the F450 and upgrade from my 2016 F350 4X2. How is your bed clearance and camper height since the F450 is about 3 inches taller

That was a huge concern for me as well. The top of the bed on both the F350 and F450 is the same; even though the 450 has the 19.5 wheels. But the bed's are deeper. I'm using my old Reese hitch from my former 2015 F350 that Ford sells for the fifth wheel prep package. On my F350, I had the hitch in the middle height setting. So before I even put it in the F450, I raised it to the top height setting. Everything is perfect and the camper sits level. I haven't measured but I'd say I have at least 6" of clearance.

If you haven't ordered your new truck yet, you might want to check Ricart Ford first. Just Google Ricart Ford in Columbus, Ohio.

I was going to order a truck but all three dealers in Raleigh couldn't even guess when it would arrive or even if it would arrive. Ford is supposedly way behind in demand and F450s aren't the biggest seller so they just aren't making too many.

I had certain options I insisted on and Ricart Ford had a truck exactly as if I had ordered one. Did the deal over the phone and two days later, it was in my driveway back in NC.

Their website says they still have 17 F450s left. 42 F350s.

There's a camera on the tailgate and a camera on the brake light above the cab. You can pick which one to use at any time as long you're going about 5 mph or below. The camera on that brake light looks right down on your fifth wheel hitch.

The side mounted cameras look at the ground around the truck. Their purpose is primarily for safety around the truck itself.

I'm a little different than Travlingman. I don't care for all the gadgets and gizmos as much. I probably just ain't as used to it. My 2015 was great. Lots of features but simple. I hate the adaptive cruise so I turned it off. But of course, every time I use my cruise, I have to acknowledge I know the adaptive cruise is off. I don't like the adaptive steering. Makes the steering seem harder to turn at slow speeds but not a huge deal.

The camera system is really cool. Love that 360 view. Power so huge, I could pull every camper at the campground all at the same time. But like Travlingman, the 4.30 is even more overkill. But that's the necessity of the F450. Wish I could get the F450 but with a 3.73.

Would I do it again? Absolutely. But if Ford had allowed me to be a test pilot, I'd have changed or deleted things. But that's just me and others may love some features I don't care for.

I'm guessing the F350 is the same here. But I have a 48 gallon stock fuel tank plus 7.5 gallons of DEF. Plus the rear hitch is rated to pull 21,000 lbs. without weight distribution. Well done Ford.

I really like mine. King Ranch dually, loaded. I got the 4.10 axle which is overkill for the 16K fiver I pull, but am covered if I go bigger. Tow technology camera system is great. 360 view makes it nice when backing in as you can see what is right beside your passenger side. Makes hooking up fiver easy as you can watch hitch and then zoom in when needed. Adaptive cruise is slick. Set your speed and the distance you want to keep from vehicle in front and it does the rest. Slows when it comes up on vehicle, you change lanes and it goes back to set speed. Adaptive steering makes a big difference when backing in camper as it shortens the amount you need to turn wheel. Blind spot monitoring is nice as you can use it when towing and it will also monitor trailer. Interior is really nice and the massaging seats work great. Got the full roof moonroof and it really opens up the truck when full view. The new "manstep" is now integrated into the tailgate and not part of the outside so it makes loading stuff if you have to slide it easier, but the step still works great.

The truck has more than enough power with the new increase in torque. The 2 stage exhaust break works very well. You can set it to manual where it will slow. In auto mode it will hold the speed you set it at. There is still alot of stuff I could go over, but you get the point, they did a good job on this truck.

I don't know if it would be called a bad, but I have lost about 1 MPG from my 2012. But it had less HP and torque and was a 3.73 rear end. Figure the 4.1 is the biggest cause and with the added HP and torque I figure not a problem.

Until you start making payments, replace 20" tires the first time and check trade in a few years down the road. Or your CP4-2 pukes.
