how much is too little to spend on a Used Pop Up?

Iโ€™ve been reading a lot about the danger signs and what to watch for. But I still have one question: is there a price under which you know a pop-up is not worth buying?

Thanks!

I recently bought a 2007 Jayco Select 12HW at toy auction for $375 bid rated 0.0 for broken lift. Had to pay auction $375 service fee as well. Left rear latch ripped off. Knew it was easiest post to get to for repairs . Forced it up. Broken pulley on track. Broken cable and torqued out lift screw. Shoddy exterior hatchet repair by previous owner that broke lift and latch tore off side allowed water in and rotted the luan outer shell. Will peel the side and replace the **** wood this fall/winter. Iโ€™m $1000 into a $5000 retail luxury pup.

I traded a couple hundred dollars worth of tools for an old off brand tent trailer. It was a piece of work; no windows in the canvas, zip up door, no insulation under the metal roof, fold out 4' beds. The wife and I plus our two boys camped in the thing well over a hundred nights and had great times and memories. Towed it all over the western states. You can have fun in just about anything.

Pups should only be 1000 to 2000 90s. Models. 2500 to 3500 2000s. 4000-8000 2010s on up. Lift systems shot. Tents $1400.

I have spent as little as $3000 for a pull behind pop up with a slide out that needed a good clean up and nothing else. When you find one you like have the owner turn everything on the day before you look at it. When you get there take a hose turn on the water and lay it on the roof while you are talking to the owner. If he says no RUN RUN RUN. Look under the cabinets for water damage. Look under mattresses for water damage. If ac is not cold it does not need a charge, it needs a new AC. Look for the DOT on the tires. It has a code that determines the age of the tires. Looks like this (DOT 1819). First two numbers are the week made and the second are the year made. New tires = $200 plus
