Installation of an electric jack to a flatbed trailer

Since most of the electric jacks that mount on the V tongue have barrels with extending feet that are longer, from the attachment plate with 3 screw holes, to the base of the foot, I'm wondering if I can put a spacer on top of the V to give me more room. Would there be a problem with that? I know it would mean I'd have to get longer bolts. Would there be any other downside?
Thank you,
Frank

I did exactly that to a trailer using 1" spacers. Looking back on it, using pipe nipples as spacers may have been the simplest way.
