Can someone help me understand insurance. We have always been transient campers and would insure our travel trailer through our auto insurance. We are now going to become seasonal at one location. We were told to examine our coverage by the campground and make sure it reflected the change. My insurance company said that it would now be covered under our homeowners insurance. I am still confused though. Does that mean it would be covered with the homeowners policy as is or does it need to be added in. Also, since it won’t be towed or on the road and it is covered under homeowners, does that mean we don’t need the auto side now?

Thanks for the reply. I’m talking to my insurance company now, but it all gets so very confusing. So it is nice to get different experiences.

Godspeedme,

Your homeowners coverage "may" extend to the contents but most do not cover the structure. If they do cover contents there is normally a limit away from the primary resident. Homeowners "may" cover the liability but some exclude it as a secondary home. At Good Sam Insurance Agency we are going to ask you questions about your usage and needs and then give you a quote or two with companies that offer the coverage you need.

Your best to discuss and get the answere from your insurance agent. Insurance regulations vary widely by state and compan. No one is going to be able to give you any sort of accurate answer on here.
