Maintenance, you vs. the dealership..

Just wondering, who does their own maintenance and who pays the dealership to do it?

As for me, I do all of my own repairs and maintenance. But, I'm getting older and I know that I'll need to start outsourcing repairs before too long.

I am 75 have a large nicely equipped shop and still do all my maintenance on everything on the farm including building Mary's special projects :). If I do it myself I know it is done right and not counting the savings accrued. Happy Camping

Goducks, got you by two years fellow Capricorn and still doing it all. DW and I did a fare amount of repairs and upgrades, getting ready for full timing. Replaced our main awning fabric (21โ€™), installed slideout covers 6โ€™ and 13โ€™, enclosed underbelly with coreplast, installed Cheap Heat System and installed wet bolts.

I fix everything myself. However if something required special tools (like a lift) I would probably take it in, hasn't happened yet. I don't weld and when I hit an electronic circuit board I'm pretty much lost - old school.

At under 60, I guess I'm the youngun around here! I've been doing all my work myself...on the house, vehicles and rv. Except, like sidecarflip, I don't do roofs.

I do. Itโ€™s part of the RV hobby but DW wonโ€™t let me touch the SUVs.

I should include not just RV maintenance, but everything. Cars, trucks and farm tractors. Have to put in a new bathroom in the spring (in the house, not the camper).

I even mount and dismount and balance my own tires. All it takes is the right tools and prior experience.

About the only thing I don't do is roofs. I don't like heights or ladders.

Depends on the job. I google it to see how to do it first. If it's something easy like replacing a part, I try to do it. If it involves lots of things that I might not have at home to put it back together, I take it to the shop.

61, still doing everything I can :B

I wouldn't mind paying to have it done, but even the best, most expensive places I have found over the years make too many mistakes or don't follow direction well :E

I'm pushing 70 and still do it all myself. I just have to double check everything because I'm getting forgetful.
