Minimum inverter?

I've been spoiled by shore power for most of the last 2 years. Just keeping an eye on things on a lovely little 2811 acre ranch in west Texas.

Cool gig, btw, and not hard to find. But that's for another day...

Anyway, I just bought this new Lance 850, had it on the truck 2 weeks, got the bugs worked out, and I'm feeling frisky.

As in boondock fishing frisky. As in 8# redfish from my kayak frisky.

New rig has no generator, though. Will probably cough up the grand for the 2k Honda, but not just yet.

No solar yet either, although that is likely coming as well. Had 90w on my 1010, and it was useful. I'm thinking 140-150w would allow me unlimited boondocking in good weather.

I have grown quite attached to my little coffee grinder and my Waterpic, though. Both 120AC.

I use each every morning, and would purely hate to give them up.

They are the only 120AC devices I require, though.

So...could an inverter supply the power needed to run them every morning?

The coffee grinder runs about 30 seconds, the Waterpic about 90.

I only have one group 27 battery.

Oh, and could an entirely electrically ignorant man like myself install it without electrocuting himself, or frying the camper wiring?

Thanks.

John02-

That plumb solves the coffee issue, I reckon. I prefer hand tools anyway.

I shall get onesuch inbound.

Thanks!

I just looked at the Waterpic papers, and no help regarding power requirements.

I also have a cordless Waterpic, with charger. The charger also requires 120AC, though.

Does this change things?

It is very important to me, as I inherited a propensity for gum disease, and hope to keep my choppers for 20+ more years.

JOHNO02 - Don't laugh but I do have something similar for a PLAN B backup grinder. I looked and looked for a D-CELL grinder but could never find one.

I have also used a hammer one time and that surprisingly worked pretty good as well...

You really need to know the start up and running amps of each device. The wiring is not difficult and you may even be able to just plug an inverter into a 12V receptacle if the amp ratings are low enough.

Being a fresh ground coffee drinker i got to have my coffee bean grinder handy.
My MR COFFEE grinder will just barely run (hit or miss) on a 300WATT PSW Inverter. The inrush kills it... Runs great on a 400WATT MSW mdl I have in my truck.. I started at 150W went to the 300W and then finally ended up with the AIMS 600WATT PSW Inverter. I got mine from AMAZON for $149 5-6 years ago.

Having only one GP27 battery will hamper alot of INVERTER use. Two 6VDC golf cart batteries (225AHs) in series will be a great deal for you...

I'm running my 255AH capacity battery bank now and do almost everything we do at regular camp grounds except air cinditioning and high wattage microwave use. My 255AH capacity holds me up to around 12.0VDC the next morning when i re-charge using my 2KW Honda generator for a three hour run. I now use the Cuisinart Grind and Brew coffee maker and make my coffee for the day when I am running my 2KW Honda Generator re-charging my battery bank at 8AM each morning. The Cuisinart only takes 5 minutes to brew a pot of coffee into the thermos carafe... Stays hot all day long

Thanks, OD!

To be clear, this is a tiny coffee GRINDER, not a coffee maker.

I love good coffee, and fresh-ground really does matter.

At least it does to me.

I have a 400 watt inverter that I hard wired in the cab of my truck. It will charge computer, run wife's curling iron and other small things. It will not run a coffee maker. But we have a percolator for that.I used number 4 wire in case I want to go bigger someday. Hope that helps.
