Multi-Camera trailer wiring help needed

I am running 3 cameras to my tow vehicle using standard RCA hybrid wire. What would be the best connector to use to connect from the trailer to the tow vehicle?

I was thinking of repurposing the flat 4 connector but I am not sure if I can use a common ground for the shields.

All help welcomed.

Fortunately it is a lot easier now with the explosion in vehicle monitoring, especially for school and city busses.

I also decided to go twisted pair in the 'hope' that the cancellation of magnetic fields might somehow avoid issues. I also found a neat weatherproof connection for $7.00 that I ordered.

The values and connector should be here by the end of the month and I will do a huge write up.

Thanks for putting me on track!

Glad it worked out. Sorry I did not answer sooner. I used standard flat 6 wire cable. The cameras were 6 wire cable output so I just continued that on. Then jury rigged/soldered RCA connectors to the video inputs under the dash. Then used RCA to F fittings to get me into the A/B switch that I use to switch between the trailer rear camera and the camera that watches the fiver hitch. The A/B switch feeds an old LCD TV that had a video input. For the audio; I just combined both camera feeds together and passed them right into the monitor/TV.

Keep in mind that this was all done with what was available in 2002.

You saved me metric s__t ton of wiring and money. I bought this to connect under my dash to my Lockpick Air V2. I will run one Cat6 to the rear of the car and terminate with a CAT6 flush mount junction box that I will mount on the receiver. I bought this one to mount on the trailer side.

Thank you so much for the help!

Standard twisted pair? How does the video look? Did you have to use Baluns?

I just found this mixed video Balun to RJ45. This is PURE genius!

There wouldn't be a lot of anything to gain by using the 4 way connector. You will need to get the signal from the trailer and through the truck to the monitor. The wiring for the four way would have to be cut close to the bumper of the truck.
XLR or balanced connectors have a lot of connection options and good wire is available almost everywhere. Alternately to that, the waterproof RCA cable would be my choice.

I am not putting up a satellite, thats over kill. The siamese RG59 (video and 12V) is the industry standard for vehicle camera video.

Left, right, reverse. Each one is automatically selected by my Lockpick by using turn signals or going into reverse.

Video is displayed in my centre console when in use. Also have a wireless TPMS pressure and temp monitor displayed in my centre console.

Looks completely stock, slicker than snot.

Here is the latest thing I found:

Only really need one side for tow vehicle though.

The flat 4 is not shielded. Why not just go with M/F RCA Jacks? There are waterproof versions out there...
