NTU TT almost ready for camping

DW and I spent most of today getting our '95 Sunnybrook 26DB ready to camp. Lots of work on the trailer, plus some shopping, has us almost there.

Here are some, but I'm sure not all, of the things we got done today:

  • There is an old rusty sewer cleanout in the ground right behind where the trailer is parked. Could not get cap off after days of spraying Liquid Wrench. Rented cast iron cutter, dug down around it, cut it off, and installed new PVC Cleanout
  • Dumped the tanks tonight. Easy!! Trying GEO method
  • Raised tire pressures to 50psi
  • Torqued lug nuts
  • Installed new safety chain hooks (with locking clasps)
  • Sorted through camping gear from pop-up days almost 3 years ago
  • Kept some, threw some away, took some by local thrift store
  • DW stocked cabinets with "stuff", and at least right now, LOTS of room left
  • Partially organized exterior storage (not very much on our model TT)
  • Tinkered with gas burner on WH; it fired up. Would not the other night
  • Hooked up small analog TV that came with TT. It gets 10 or so over-the-air channels pretty clearly
  • We bought an inexpensive DVD player this afternoon and I hooked that up. DS has autism, and this really helps him relax a little in the camper
  • Tried a large allen wrench in my Dewalt 18v drill. It makes easy, short work of my stabs! Drill will now be going with us on every trip
  • DW and I bought several supplies to mostly stock our kitchen, though I did pick up another white water hose, and a rubbermaid container to slide into the exterior storage compartment to have easy access to some outside items we will need
  • We also bought every family member toiletry items that will stay in the TT until I winterize it. That is one thing we are so looking forward to...having a lot of what we used to have to pack up every time always in there ready to go

And almost as good as getting the TT prepared for camping was getting some serious floor space back in my storage building!!

Our maiden voyage will be two weekends from now to our local state park. We won't even need a reservation this time of year. We will drive in, pick out our site, go back and make sure it is not reserved, pay for it, then set up.

Aside from having the convenience of a TT for camping itself, what you folks do is also something I find very appealing...being ready to go on short notice! Can't wait. We have moved our maiden voyage up to this coming weekend.

We also are always ready to go; food in freezer, grab the essentials from the house fridge and we are off. I keep our toiletries in the FW all winter. I just put them on the floor of the shower unit in case something "explodes". After 20 years, nothing has. I leave all the clothes in the drawers and closets. Remove the bedding and pack it away in a container. Bag the utensils, turn off fridge and remove all items. Donate unopened pantry items to the food cupboard and winterize. When spring comes, I give it a good cleaning, in and out. Buy new pantry items, food stuffs for fridge and freezer and we are ready to go.

It looks like you are pretty much ready to go. Enjoy!

We have our TT stocked all the time ready to go. If hubby calls from work I can put in fresh fruit and veg from house and be ready to hook up when he pulls in the driveway 15/20 minutes later. The freezer is always full as well as the fridge & cupboards. We have bathroom products, linens and clothing in all the time. I am not giving up a minute, LOL

Have fun with your wife and son.
