Odd Ball Little Trailer - Camp Buddy

Hello,
Fairly new here and actually came across this forum because of a similar question. I posted back , but it was a little over a month after the original question. I have a Small Trailer called a Camp Buddy , made by a Company called Legacy RV , LLC , which apparently lasted about 3 -5 minutes. It's a 2012 , and I picked it up a few years back to use to get back into Beach camping . I too , like the original poster , was wondering if anyone has one of these. There is No info anywhere on these now. When I got late 2011 , there seemed to be very limited info even then. Back in 2011/2012 them seemed to be 3 of them popping up now and then on the internet . The reason I put it here is , it is a 12 ft trailer . Thanks and sorry if this is too much of a repeat of the other question.

Ha Ha ,
Actually Pismo , even with the campers I see there in the Videos seems Way Way too Chaotic for me too , I was just curious , as I know , actual On the Beach camping is Very hard to Find . I assure you , It is Nothing like that here ! Very Calm and relaxing for the most part. When we do obtain a more suitable tow vehicle and trailer , and other factors like time and work change , we would love to expand from just the local beaches and start to Travel . Those pictures of yours are great , and boondocking , will be what we will do. We always enjoyed the what you bring is what you have aspect over the pull in , hook-up campgrounds ... and small of course :W

Don't know about Pismo -- that area is mostly for off-roaders/dune buggies, which is not my thing. But bring your little trailer out west -- we have lots of remote mountain boondocking, and you can do that in a very small trailer, if you drive carefully on the forest roads!

Hello again !
Yes , sorry , my mistake I realized you had only one at a time , Giant DUH on my part ! Long Island still has , no telling for how long , a few outer beaches that allow the camping. Must be self contained of course , no tents etc .... Our Little trailer was a project for me as it was pretty much , shall we say , naked . I am certain the mods would have an audience of ONE . It serves us for the limited camping we are able to do at this time and even when we do get a New Trailer , it will be small . We are close to where we go , so I was lucky to be able to try it out again after a long break , with an older truck and a small trailer . Would have jumped on your old one , after all whats a few thousand miles , right !:R . I had to weigh out the things I wanted to do and of course spend money on , when we got it . It has 4 bolt hubs , so it would be , at the least , new hubs to go with the new rims/tires, and possibly a different axle. The axle set it at a great height for both the trailer and center of the axle. I would like the 14 or 15 to be able to fit a Much Wider tire for the Float on the sand , but it's pretty light , so , it would be more of a look thing. Ok guess this will get tossed to the Mods forum if I keep chewing your ear off.Just curious , Any Actually on the Beach ? I see Old Videos from Pismo , are they no longer allowing it there ?

JustaLittle, we don't have two trailers -- we had an older one, sold it, and got a newer one, almost identical to the old one. Camping on the beach sounds great -- ironically, here in California, beach real estate is so expensive that there is very little beachside camping, and the campgrounds are usually completely booked up. (The good news, though, is that we live fifteen minutes from Huntington Beach and surf there pretty often, usually on a weekday -- the weekends are too crowded -- no parking, and no room on the waves to take off!)

Is there room on your trailer for bigger wheels? We replaced the 13 inchers with 14s, and it made a lot of difference. The trailer now has as much axle clearance as the truck does.

profdant139,
Excellent , Enjoyed looking at the pics , it's all about what you use it for and it seems you are enjoying to the max ! I love some of the mods you made. Jealous , as yours are Real trailers w/real stuff ! Very Very Jealous if you actually have 2 "tuna cans" as my friend calls our trailer . As I have mentioned in other posts , we Only Camp on the Outer Beach , and Only a few times each season. I won't bore you to tears with the whole trailer story .
Ok , one quick item :R
I did Replace the axle , with a straight one , to get the height up , as the original was a drop ?? , so couldn't flip and relocating spring mounts on the top would have raised the trailer , but still left the whole axle low and dragging in the middle mound between the tracks . Even lower with 13 wheels .

Check out our trailer -- see the blog links in my signature -- very similar to your Camp Buddy! Lots of fun for two people, as long as one of them is very small!

Yes,
those 13 ft Scamps and Casitas are nice and never get old , the plus about Fiberglass. Small trailers have been around forever and ever , both regular and Fiberglass . The Camp Buddy was from a Legacy Rv which there was never any info on. That along with the claimed 12ft as far as I can tell , total length ( probably a bit closer to 13 in real life ) is why I say Odd Ball ๐Ÿ˜‰

Camp On !!

Casita, Scamp and probably Escape make 14 footers. They have been around for years.

I had a 14 foot TT once. The TT was made in 1969. I bought it about 17-18 years ago. At that point in my life it served me well. I sold it to a friend and he still has it.

Bigger is not always better.

Ha ,
An actual sighting ! ... Small indeed. Price was right when we got it . Just the 2 of us , for 2-3 nights on the beach a few times each summer . Took it on as a Project and Enjoyed doing the work inside to set it up for just what we needed for the Outer Beach Camping . Did you see more than 1 ? , curious as all I could find a record of was 3 of them , 2 - 12ft and 1 - 18 ft. Love it for what it is used for . There was a dealer in PA , Grumbines guess it's a Camping World that had one also back in 2011 . So easy to tow , and I push it back into the driveway by hand :^)) .
Happy Camping

A local dealer (Crowder RV) in Johnson City, TN sold these, or at least had them on their lot a few years ago. I thought they were cute, but definitely too small for us and they were pricey.
