Oil Pressure

I have a new 2013 Silverado 1500, 5.3L engine. I notice the oil pressure varies about 4PSI. It varies at idle or at a steady speed at 60MPH. The pressure varies between 34-37PSI at 60MPH. My previous Silverado was steady at 60PSI at 60MPH. Is the varying normal? And is the pressure low?
Thanks, John

If you ask this same question on the various Chevy Truck forums on the Internet you will find the pressure is completely normal. As another poster commented-the 5.3 needs very little oil pressure to operate.

Totally normal with the newer engines. My 2013 5.3 will range from 30-45 when cold (idle to cruise) and about 20 - 37 psi when warmed up. I asked the mechanic about it and he said that is perfectly normal. I know when I first bought the truck I questioned it because I'm use to cars cruising at 60psi.

Drive and enjoy 🙂

I would call normal. Another small edge to increase fuel mileage.

I noticed the same thing on my 2013 5.3 except more variation then that. In law has same truck and said the same. Engine sounds good, especially when it roars. 🙂
