Opinion for battery storage while parked.

Question / Opinion about storing the battery in the under storage while parked.

Are there any issues with storing the battery in the storage area of the camper while it is sitting in storage. I placed mine in there tonight in the box ,because I was tired of having to tote it back and forth.

Just second guessing myself. :h

5w per battery is not really enough even if completely disconnected and lots of sun. BTDT.

My vote is also for a maintenance charger of some sort, regardless of season, for maintenance of the batteries when the trailer is not in use. I learned that $200 lesson the hard way, ergo, I take the batteries home after every outing and attach a Battery Minder.

I take my batteries and cases out when I winterize for the year. The batteries go in the garage and get hooked to a float charger.

In the spring when I get ready to go they are fully charged and ready to go.

I felt this same pain last year when they got both of my only 6 mo old grp 24's that came on the tt when I bought it.

batteries will freeze in winter if not fully charged
i fully charge mine
then i disconnect them from the trailer completely, actually each time i put the trailer away all year long.
i leave them in the plastic battery case all winter long .
i store my trailer in a 3 sided shed , away from home.
before each campout i plug in the trailer as soon as i bring it home to pack .
this seems to be adequate to fully charge the rv batteries.
we camp without hookups mostly.
when i get home from a trip i plug in the trailer to 120v while we are unpacking .
when i get to the storage shed i disconnect the batteries again .
these batteries are about 6 years old and hold up well for boondock camping .
i find that disconnecting the batts avoids the problem of battery fluid loss .
each spring for the first trip i fill the rv batts with very little fluid .
i also take 'em out of the battery boxes and clean them , including the terminals and the boxes .
then i'm good to go for the season .

At times, I leave my TT's battery within its plastic tongue box during long storage months. No issues.

However.... Do remember to disconnect its - or + cable - so the battery won't parasitic drain. And, become dead in 4-6 weeks.

I don't know but if you are able to pug in to power don't worry about your battery, We leave ours plugged in 12 months a year at sometime below -35 deg. and no problems. If you can't plug in just disconnect the battery so no drain is on it and it should be good for several weeks.

Should be fine for 2 to 4 months IMO. I would place it on a piece of wood to absorb any corrosive residue.

Batteries off gas (hydrocloric acid i think)when being used or charged. I'm not if they off gas while being stored. If they do you would need to make sure there's enough ventilation in the storage area or it could be a big problem....but like I said I'm not sure if they off gas while resting so it could be a non issue.

Wow I just realized my post was pretty much no help at all...hopefully someone else can help.
