Poorly planned purchase of Torklift Rear tie downs

So I installed my Torklift tie downs a few months ago and got the rear model C3206 to fit my OEM 2" hitch. Now that I'm wanting to pull a small sailboat trailer I see I need an extension around 30 inches to clear my overhang. The longest extension is 18" which would put my ball about a foot under my camper. A call to Torklift confirms my fear that to put an aftermarket 2 1/2"hitch would require different rear tie down mounts. Ugh. They even said the Torklift Super hitch with is drilled to accept torklift tie downs are for the other style tie down. Seems like I have two odd options if I don't change the tie down; tow with the ball under my camper 12" or find a old OEM 2 1/2" hitch for my 2001 Silverado. I can't find any legal guidance on having a recessed ball although I know it's odd. If my turning clearance is good on my trailer/boat this seems do-able. Finding an old upgrade hitch seems unlikely after some searching. Has anyone installed an aftermarket hitch with the C3206? I'm hoping there is a brand out there that would work that Torklift doesn't want me to know about. I don't mind springing for a better hitch but it's tough to stomach changing out the rear tie downs already. My trailer and tongue weight are very light and even with factoring 50% capacity accounting for an extension weight isn't an issue. Thanks in advance.

I have towed with the ball under the camper, provided you have clearance on turns it works just fine. Better than a longer extension actually. It is more of a pain to hitch and unhitch. I'd hook it up and check the turn clearance, also if the tongue is close under the camper overhang you have to think about steep service stations ramps, but if it clears, I'd tow it that way.

Thanks for the links. I can definitely make the 2" one work. My hope is someone has figured out how to upgrade their hitch to the 2 1/2" with the C3206 brackets. I always struggle finding old discussions when I search for them on forums. I'll try again though since this might be previously covered ground. Thanks again Bob and Joe.

I'll look for some threads tonight.

Loaded properly and used within reason it has never failed me. They come in different sizes. I couple it to the tow beast trailer receiver also by Reese. There are many discussions on the forum about this topic.
Good luck, Joe

Try looking at thus 48" 2" hitch extension.
You would need to do some custom fabrication.
Good luck!
