Power jack makes "clank" sound and doesn't work

So when I was ready to leave the campground today the power jack was doing a "clank" sound for every turn and it basically didn't move.

I did it manually but it still made the clank sound for every turn.

After it was off the trailer it moved up and down freely but still making the same noise.

It is under warranty (or it should be). I don't want to drive to the dealer though (1 hour away).

Any ideas what is happening and should I ask for a new one?

I'll take a look at it this weekend. It turns out the warranty on the jack was expired. If everything else fails I'll just add a new jack.

I would take the darn thing apart before spending 170 on a new one. It might be a 50 cent part. Shear pins are designed to break before the jack does. You could find a replacement at any good hardware store.

My neighbor gave me a mower because he said it was broken and wouldn't run. He tried to mow a tree root. I replaced a 25 cent shear pin and it ran like new.

Well, I called Jayco and they don't want me to touch the Jack inside. The problem is that I'm far away from the dealer. And the closest dealer has a wait of two weeks. And I'm leaving on a big trip next week so I don't want to try to fix it and fail.

So I'm thinking in buying one and installing it myself. I can have the other one serviced by the end of the year when we're not camping anymore.

Also I can't find a manual jack that can take 3500 lbs. I wonder if there is one?

I found oneelectric for 100 dollars but not sure if it's good - reviews say it's slow.

There is also an Ultra-Fab Products 38-944016 for around 170 dollars.

Any suggestions?

Concur on the shear pin. When you call them and ask for a replacement, have them send you two. Keep the spare in your toolbox for the next time!

Sound like the problem I had with an UltraFab shear pin. I called the factory and they sent a new one under warranty.
