Question about 2007 Tahoe Autoride system

Does anyone here know the proper way to set up the hitch head on one of these autoride vehicles? Mine has the autoleveling and autodampening style rear shocks, with the coil springs that are separate.

The last truck, an envoy xl, was pretty much level, when all hooked up. The new truck, when connected for the first time with the same setup as the envoy, produced an effect of the nose of the tongue to be pitched up, kinda like this: ^.

So I took it to the dealer, paid them $67, as I figured they would properly level the truck (they did the first one), and when I got it back it seems better but still nose up. They did move the hitch head down a spot as I can now see an open mounting hole at the top that wasn't there before.

I questioned the "tech" that did the job about this, and his claim is that because I'm not loaded in the back with gear (in the truck), that it will pitch down and be level when doing so. I explained to him how autoride worked and his claim was that it will run out of travel not be able to make the truck level past a certain amount. I don't really believe him, but I don't really grasp what to do with the hitch either, so I just left at that point and took the trailer home.

So should I just bring the hitch into work, where airtools are available and move it down the last set of mounting holes? What if that still isn't enough to make it level? What happens if you shut off the truck after you have loaded it with the trailer and start it again, do you need to unhook the spring bars and let the autolevel work, and then reconnect them? Or will it be the same as before?

What happens if moving it down one more spot isn't enough? Do they make a shank with more holes?

This is the unit I have with the sway control. If you look in the photo the site there, my hitch is in exactly the same holes on the shank. Previous to this I could not see the open hole at the top.

Pro-Series Hitch

To me this means they moved it, but that I only have one more lower adjustment.

Can anyone help?

Try contacting Etrailer.com or the manufacturer of the WDH. I believe the auto-level needs to be disabled during the set up of the WDH. I am not sure how it is done on an 07 though.

Thanks. Anyone else have any experience with this type of system or can point me in another direction?

You can buy a shank with more drop (longer with more holes). They are pricy for what they are, but you're kind of a captive audience.
