I’m looking at the RecPro 9.5K low profile A/C. I have never heard of them. Does anyone have any experience with them, or heard anything about them? Thank you.

Cyclepath, thanks for doing the initial Amps for us! I would think that a Honda 2000 can start this AC in eco mode... How did you tap into the ac power? A clamp on sensor I presume. Good job!
Can not wait for the 2000 test on eco on cold start and it cycling a few times.
When you do it could you do the following:

Running in eco, compressor working, turn the 2000 to non eco and listen for the increase of rpm. I think at <>7 amps that the 2000 should be at about 1/2 speed..

I am excited about this AC unit. I do hope it performs for you and others that already have it and are willing to tell us their findings.

OK, numbers off the 30amp plug, using DMM:

Just Fan - LO - .562 / MED .594 / HIGH .620

Compressor - Avg around 7.5-7.6. with MED and HIGH FAN

I have to watch more YouTube before checking the volts. I will also run it again off of the Honda 2000 and use Eco mode this time.

This is my first RV AC. I didn't have one before because I bought it in Alaska, and didn't have this heat, and Mama was OK with it:), so I can't compare the noise. I can say that it is a lot quieter than I expected. Given that the fan stays blowing, when the compressor kicks on, there is not much of a noise change. I have yet to camp in it, but I have a feeling it will disturb my sleep less than the heater. I will get some numbers in a day or two.

I just started the 2000 in normal run mode, let it warm up a bit, then plugged in. I left it on normal/non Eco mode the whole time. I will also run it again in Eco mode and see how it does.

I meant inside, no difference between this unit and a larger one. I wear hearing aids and although it's pretty quite when I don't have them in except for the tinnitus. When I do have them in the A/C is like a helicopter landing on the roof. Just curious not important. Great report, Thanks

Thanks for providing that bit of info... So did the 2000 trip in Eco on AC start or did you just run it in non echo?

Next we need the run wattage/amps...

I know that the 9000 penguin would start on Eco with the soft start mod. at least that was reported an verified by Reddog1.

Were you running the 2000 in ECO mode?

Thanks for providing the initial question which was, would the 2000 run the AC.
,
What I would like to see is how many watts/amps was needed to sustain the compressor and fan when in cooling mode.

How's the noise level?

I tested lot of AC over the years and looks to me that rated amps are more for starting.
My 15k Carrier 15 years ago was operating at 8.6 amp
The Lance 12k (?) at 6.3
I also suspect that the BTU ratings are often misinterpreted.
Just from above numbers - 15k draws 8.3 amps, when new 13.5k 9 amps.
Thinking back, I think the 15k Carrier was not really 15k.

THE NUMBERS
13.5k BTU draws about 9 amps when running at full blast. For some reason the amp jumps within 0.5 amp.
It has all soft start, so you don't hear traditional thuds.
I had the unit running in my garage yesterday for > 2 hr and did not have water drips (not that with 6% humidity water last long here)
The only complain I have is that remote display is not very clear.
I have 5 modes for operation and all of them have icons only, who are not clear to interpret. I might have to make additional label for it.

Interesting but good...

The spec for the 13K shows...14a for cooling... Wonder why you are reading 9a...

It works like a champ. Never had an RV AC before, but this thing is pretty quiet. It cools that camper down in a hurry. Of course, it isn't 90 out. I can't wait until it is:) I have it running off of 30amp. The next thing to do is see how it does with the 15amp adapter on the 30 plug. After that, how it does on my Honda 2000 generator. I am very happy with it so far. Thanks.

Following this with interest. The AC on my Bigfoot is something like 14" or 17" tall (can't quite remember). It is to the point of being ridiculous and from a pure aesthetics standpoint is ugly as sin. I have been keeping an eye out for a replacement that was low profile and this looks like it fits the bill. Please keep us updated on your results with the unit over time.
