replacing awning on your own

Ours has multiple tears in it and water got inside of it during a severe rain storm ,causing huge bubbles so we had to open it to drain by making pin size holes. We want to save money and replace it ourselves but the youtube video I saw made it seem like a hard, multiple person job. Any idea what total cost would be for a new one installed? I believe its between 12-14 feet wide.

I replaced an 18ft frabric only last year. It was challenging to feed the rail and figure out the spring tensioner. Took 3 guys. A pickup truck and ladder or two. Trick is wind the springs in different directions. Do it wrong Start over winding. Be careful not to impale or blind yourself when using the vise grip

I replaced the fabric in my A&E awning five years ago. I added pictures and info to this thread describing how I did it myself, with some help from DW. Read further in the thread, as other posters had different methods.

The tension spring darn near got me. Hubby was clear. I wasn't. I got lucky. There is enough power in that tension spring to really do damage. Like I said... I got very lucky and just had a sore wrist for a couple of days.

wife and I replaced ours this year. easy task if you take your time and folow some of the you tube videos. ordered our mat'l from Tough Top Awnings and very pleased.

GO TO EBAY AND ORDER ONE. I replaced a 20 ft awning with myself (66 Y/o at time) and my disabled wife Took about an hour. Only gotcha is undoing tension on the spring and redoing the tension on the spring.

Call a mobile repairman and ask how much to put on a awning fabric you have already purchased. Make an appointment and he will show up and do it while you watch or help.
Should take him under 2 hours to do plus his travel time

$130 in MN. They were able to use the existing brackets. We ordered the new awning directly from Fiamma in FL.Todd
