It will bring you a bit more when you get ready to sell/trade in 10 years...but not alot. The value will be in the mileage, overall physical & cosmetic condition. Obviously, a vehicle that doesnt have alot of wear & tear, shiny paint, good tread on the tires and a clean interior free of rips, tears and stains will be what brings you the most when it comes time to dispose of them.
When I was selling cars, most of the time on a older model vehicle, unless it was just in pristine shape, we would sell it to a wholesaler and let them put it on their lot. Rationale was that things will start to break and then the customer will be back causing a big stink. It was more of a headache than it was worth. Also, alot of times it was impossible to get financing on a 10 year old auto, so we would have had to have someone wanting to buy it with cash in hand.
