I am looking at buying a TC that fits an 8'long box nicely and uses the truck tail/brake lights (no skirt on rear of tc) If I put this on my 6'6" box the truck lights will be recessed about 22",cause the 8'6" TC will hang over 24" Is that ok or legal in all states and provinces? Seems like someone driving behind me may not be able to see the right brake light cause of the angle that the driver will be at . any thoughts??

I drove a rig like that for 2 years. Had cops behind me once or twice with no problem. Your problem will be your center of gravity being too far back making your steering a bit squirrely.

The TC has clearance lights but relies on the truck for brake/tail/turn. good idea about the clamp on style trailer lights.

I would suggest buying trailer lights and mounting them to the rear of the TC. I assume that the camper already has running lights tied to the truck, so check the harness for right and left turn/brake wires.
