Sold our Lance 815 truck camper and looking to purchase a Nash travel trailer. Looked at the exterior only of a nice 2007 Nash 22H 4 season today that is parked at a local RV park where it is stored. Owner said I could look at outside of camper since he was at work. Liked the model and the exterior looked in good shape but climbed on to roof to inspect. While the roof which is crowned looked solid there are many small black spots. The camper exterior needs a thorough cleaning for sure. Owner says the inside is excellent. Peaked into some windows and looked good. I also noticed that all the vertical seams and roof seams needed to be sealed and caulked. Dried and cracked. Spoke with owner on the phone later and asked him If he ever did any regular caulk maintenance on entire camper since he bought it new in 2007 and he said NO ?!!! Supposed to look at interior tomorrow. My Question is should I run and forget about this one??

One thing to watch for is delamination in the sides. Northwood had some issues with this and it can be expensive to fix. If there is no delam and no water leaks or obvious damage then the only remaining issue is price. The coach is well made but heavy.

Small black spots are mold. No big deal getting them off. A good roof cleaner or some diluted bleach will take care of this.

Appreciate the replies. I noticed that it needed to be caulked. What about the small black/gray spots all over the roof. I have owned a few truck campers some with EPDM, TPO and aluminum. never seen them before even on a 1996 model I used to own.

Look past the needs to be cleaned. Most any item for sale will need specked out. The admission that the owner said he did nothing in the way of maintenance I think is a good sign that he was honest. You don't get a shined up, cover it up version.... Good luck...

Our friends have a 2005 Sunnybrook outside every day and night, winter and summer with never a touch of roof maintenance. Also never a problem. So it could be ok.

It sounds like a trailer in good condition. The black spots are just stains on the roof and should be left alone. In fact, the roof should be left alone. Recaulking is just routine maintenance. By the way, the Nash trailers are known to be high quality, durable units from a manufacturer known for their quality and exemplary customer service.

Look at it. Won't cost you anything. Anyone can pick apart any camper if they want to. It needs a good cleaning, so do many new units on a dealer lot. Get inside and look for the real issues if any.

Consider all options. Review NADA for current value. Discuss with local RV repair shop for evaluation and price to have the rig brought up to current standards. Negotiate repair shop's evaluation.
