Sold home and gone!

So, we put our townhouse up for sale and figured we'd have a few months to load up, pack, get ready and plan a fall trip after it sold.

So a few weeks pass, and Wholla! Buyer comes with cash offer, sold his place out-of-state and is living in a hotel, wants to close in ten days ... YIKES !

So, we been packing two days, will close next week, and have unlimited time in the TC until we decide to settle again.

Note: We also found a place, closer to the kids and G kids, but it won't even close until June sometime. Now, we get a couple months in spring AND a fall trip to the west coast as well!

One day we have a home, ten days later we're full-timing (again) for a while. Can't beat that! M44

Genie is a bit more grounded than me - I'd go back to full-time in the Lance in a hot minute, and camp alone often. She does camp a lot too, but sometimes flies home, or flies to meet me and we hang out in various areas.

I spend more time on the road -- but it works well and we fit our lifestyles in a way to suit us both.

I am an ER travel nurse and used to live in a 35' fifth wheel. We sold that and now live in small, one bedroom apartments as a family of three. We move every three months, and utilize our truck camper between jobs for housing. To keep life simple and clutter free, we literally live on inflatable furniture, and keep our "stuff" to a bare minimum that will fit on a small 4x8 folding trailer that we can tuck away in our apartment or parking space to not pay for storage. I usually work weekends, so every Monday we bail out into the desert or elsewhere in our camper......

Living in a big house full of clutter is highly over-rated, for us right now.

Bill,
How about a mini travelog of your travels? If you are staying where they have WiFi you can stay in touch.

Genie writes a travel blog w/photos of all our travels -- we been anchored since last year - but before that we did two long tours across country ... four months and five months. I'll get her blog site and link it here if we can do that?

We carry Verizon WIFI ... so have no issues with CG slow and no services.

That's great to hear! Guess the housing market is on the mend.
Had a friend who got laid off as the dean at a university. He sold his house and lived in his trailer with wife. Then both kids moved back in with them in the trailer. Found another, better paying job and was able to buy another house.

"Kept wondering where all the 'stuff' came from."
How many on here are in that same boat?
We've only moved 4 times in 45 years, so each time it REALLY was a pile of stuff.

Well, it certainly does not break our hearts to spend time in the TC .. extended time with no schedule and no fixed destination.

Last time, six months road trip -- time before that almost three years full-timing. Can't wait - we actually hit the road TODAY, and will return briefly on Friday to sign off the documents.

Weird enough timing - HOA scheduled a road paving exactly on the final three days, so we had only six days to pack up and move out. We made it! But believe me, we won't need a gym workout for a few days ... 🙂 🙂

Kept wondering where all the 'stuff' came from.

This is really a 'carpe diem' moment. Some people face a life-changing move with fear and trepidation, especially if it comes with a funky time line. Some face it as an opportunity to better their lives and fill in the cracks with TC travel. You seem to have chosen the later. Congrats.
As BKA has 'oft said, "travel well, my friends".

Yeah Jerry, I will ... we might not make it as far south as you are in CA, but if we do, we'll let you know. We're too late for Death Valley, so will probably cruise west on the southern routes awhile, then north as the weather in the mountains warms - never can tell how that will go.

I am retiring next summer and plan on putting our house on the market next spring. One of my fears is that it sells too quickly and I've got 3 months of work left with no where to live. However, I think I would prefer that scenario to being ready to move and the dang place won't sell.

Good luck on your adventures.
