Stable Stix

We've used the stable stix in the drive way @ home and posted pics here, this is the first time we took the camper off the truck in a campground because they have paved drives @ brookville, they worked really well, (i am not affiliated with them) i was a bit leary climbing up in the extended cabover with the DW, it was nice to free up the truck, we went to wolf creek habitat down here today.

Take it down to where you can just attach your sewer hose. The lower it is the less it 'wiggles'...lol

Both of us always slept in the extended cap over in our Lance off the truck with no support on the front....and we ain't lightweights either....

I always figured (must have been right) that there was enough counterbalance in the back to offset our 'tonnage' up front....

Never upended the camper.

Even my P'UP we use off the truck and sleep in the cab over with no 'upending' and it's a heck of a lot lighter than the Lance was.

Most of your weight is behind the theoritical Cg., anyway...and with the jacks down (and camper lowered as much as possible, the centerpoint (tipping point) actually becomes the front jack legs so you have even more mass behind the centerpoint. IOW, it anin't tipping over on it's nose.

The braces add a bit of stability bit I doubt the camper will upend, ours never did (sold Lance) and the new one don't either.

FYI a pick up bed cargo rod will do the same thing to "assure" a nervous camper in the cabover (It will never tip over with normal use). Two cargo rods can also be used as a makeshift tailgate after you remove the TC. You can also use extendable sheetrock stands which have a greater extended length.

I recommend you take the TC jacks all the way down unless you have a solid base underneath.

I'm glad that worked for you. I take mine off sometimes and I use Torklift Wobble Stopper.
I'm curious why you left the camper so high off the ground. I always lower mine down as far as possible. It's easier to get in and out and there's a lot less sway in the jacks. I would think it would put less stress on the jack attachment points too.

I have the stable stix at the lowest adjustment hole, I'm gonna put another hole for adjustment when we get home.

Good idea buzzcut, we have a 8 foot box with extended cabover and I'm afraid it's gonna tip over with DW and me in bed, I've got to have the stable stix under it, you gave me a good idea though, I'm gonna drill another hole in the stable stix to get it down low, it was a trial this time, we can't use the scissor stairs now @ that height so we are using the cooler now, thanks buzzcut.

I think that most of us lower the camper down as far as possible on the jacks when using the TC off the truck. I doubt I would ever leave it up like it is in your photo even to just store it let alone use it.
