I have a 13' windjammer 3065w with 225/7515 st load c tires. This is our third season on them. I would like to up grade in tire to a LT225/75/15 but am having trouble finding them. Words of wisdom are appreciated. And sorry to whip a dead horse

Obviously going from a st225/75/15 load c to a load e is better than nothing correct?

A trailer can have too much tire unlike a truck. Too much tire and you can't use 80 psi pressure so you have to derate the tire. You gain nothing but a softer sidewall and a hotter operating tire.

Apparently your trailer came OEM with ST225/75-15 C load range.

Maxxis LT U-168 is a commercial grade tire with a LT235/75-15 D load range at 2337 lbs. Another 225/70R15C at 65 psi and 2469 lb capacity. These tires have became popular with all types of trailer owners where they can find them (not just RVs).

Vanco 2 from Continental another popular tire for trailer users has a 225/70R15C all position tire rated at 2470 lbs at 65 psi.

Do your home work on all the numbers.

Go straight to the expert and he will tell you. He responds promptly in email. Here's the link to RV Tire Safety with Roger Marble

The link goes to one of his blogs on the subject but he has a chart on switching out tires. Maybe you can't do it, but he'll let you know. This guy is great!

The Goodyear G26 225/70R15 LR D is rated for 2470 lbs @ 65psi. Load rating for a given type of tire is not increased unless the pressure is increased.

Are rims stamped on the back side for psi?

Check rims for max psi, Maxxis makes a quality ST tire and if your wheels can handle it you can go to D (65psi) or E (80 psi) in 225/75/15 size. If rims are only rated for 50psi, getting a Maxxis in a LR C is still a good way to go.

The 225/70/15 size I like if you know windjammers at least my 13' there's not much tire clearance so more is better. Similar weigh rating?

True on the rim psi I haven't checked that. Obviously going from a st225/75/15 load c to a load e is better than nothing correct? With the ST does the 65mph still apply. I tow at 70-72mph. I need to try and break the habit I know.

I replaced my ST225/75R15 LR D tires with Goodyear Cargo G26 225/70R15 LR D this year and have been very pleased with after putting approx. 1000 miles on them so far. They are approx. 1 inch smaller in diameter, but that should not be a problem unless the trailer already has low ground clearance.

Don't believe you will find LT and think about the PSI rating on your rims.
