Summerland 2570RL - two gray tanks?

Hey everyone. I really love this trailer so far, but one thing doesn't seem to add up.

The gray tank really fills up quickly. I hardly ever use constant water, I take "military showers" and fill sink / rinse dishes, etc etc.. yet after 3 days the tank registers basically full.

Specs here - here show 34 gal gray tank, and 42 gal black tank.

A few things about that. 1 - on our last trip, the city water was too far away and I just borrowed a hose and filled the fresh tank a little above half (says 52 gal but that was only a few min of filling so that seems odd also).

Yet after 3 days, BOTH gray and black tanks showed 2/3 full. Now I'm no math genius, but based on how much fresh water I had, that doesn't seem even remotely possible.

2 - there are two gray tank dump valves! I'm guessing one is just for the front / sink and the rear is shower / br sink? Which has the sensor on it? The tank check unit has a "galley" button but I didn't think it was hooked up, never changed from empty. Perhaps that's the kitchen sink?

Also means the published info is wrong as the link mentions one tank.

I'm about to just call Keystone, but the odds of talking to someone that knows about that unit seems about zero.

I know I'm not using much water, just tired of freaking out about it after a couple days. ๐Ÿ˜ž

SO you have THREE waste tank dump valves..correct??

1 for black and 2 for grey

1 would be grey for shower/bathroom sink
1 would be 'galley' for kitchen sink

Keystone RV only states 1 grey 34 gallon tank....LINK

So do you really have (3) three dump valves OR just 2 total :H

Monitor panel maybe used in numerous floorplans -----some with galley tanks

Also waste tanks are long narrow and shallow.....sensors are 'guesstimates' as to amount (I haven't paid attention to ours for YEARS.....know from using how long we can go before dumping)

Yup - definitely THREE dump valves - and the two times I've used a waste station, ALL valves / tanks were being used. Outside of the TT has lables for "gray" "black" and "gray - although the actual valves aren't side-by-side, they're semi-stacked / offset so it's still hard to remember which is which. ๐Ÿ™‚

But yes that's my point, the literature / specs say one! It's also got a flush system that's VERY nicely installed but apparently that didn't come from the factory either.

Thanks everyone - Bluegrass Bill, yeah I DEFINITELY think the sensors are off..

kerrlakeRoo - I think I'll have to start doing that... I'm so new to this I just figured 34 gallons is a LOT. I'd like to think I use maybe a gallon to shower and a few gallons for toilet total? It just doesn't mentally add up, but I really need to pour the water in and check.

If they say those tanks are that size, can I trust those numbers at least?

Anyone have any ideas on the two dump valves for gray?

Yeah , It's pretty small, consider for a minute
If you use 1 gallon to wash dishes, and 1 to rinse, thats 2 gallons
Do that 3 times a day, for three days, and your up to 18 gallons.
That's over half of your grey tank.
I'd call keystone on the valves, they may have an optional third tank you could add to the system.

Is it time for your medication or mine?

That model has a small grey tank, one other thing that may help. If you are camping outside on dirt, wash dishes at the picnic table in a tub and just dump the water, since you are going to sports venues, if you are on a parking lot, do the same, but dump down a storm drain. It may not seem like much but with a 34 gallon tank, every gallon will matter when your using it for days.

You cannot trust those pesky tank sensors. Take a 5 gal bucket when you have empty tanks and measure the amount of water you pour into the separate tanks Etc. Then you know for sure what you are dealing with and where the water goes.
