Superhitch and Truss

After a recent discussion on the superhitch and truss it looks like unbeknownst to us our assembly might be wrong (sumting wong). I am posting a few pics to show what we have. No collars or spacers to prevent pinched fingers. Please feel free to comment.

Only about 1.5' of floor now hangs since 7.5' of it fits on the deck. Before, I had a F250 6.75' short bed and needed all 28" of the SuperTruss to clear my enclosed trailer. 2017 should be the model year we go to a Host or Eagle Cap and I will need the 48" SuperTruss.

No reason you could not use two bands.
It will stiffen up the installation, I'd go for it.
Pretty simple to make one.

Bedlam...just curious...how much camper do you have hanging off your truck?

I guess the bands are called u-collars in Torklift vocabulary. The directions are consistent in the installation manual about use of one u-collar for the two shortest extensions. Here is a snippet out of the manual:

MAKE SURE AND PLACE ONE COLLAR IN
THE MIDDLE OF THE EXTENSION AND THE
OTHER AT THE END AWAY FROM THE
TRUCK. TIGHTEN ALL 1/2โ€ FASTENERS TO
60 FT. LBS. NOW REMOVE PINS TO
ENSURE THE EXTENSION WILL COME OUT.
IT MAY BE NECESSARY TO LOOSEN THEN
RETIGHTEN THE FASTENERS TO REMOVE
THE EXTENSION EASILY. NOTE: 21โ€ & 24โ€
EXTENSIONS ONLY REQUIRE 1 COLLAR AT
THE END AWAY FROM THE TRUCK

Did they change to only 1 band somewhere along the way?

I have a 21" and a 36" and they both have 2 bands. I bought the 21" used and it was quite old, I guess the previous owner may have added the second band.

The 21" and 24" SuperTruss (the two shortest models) only use one band to hold the upper and lower tubes together. These will be more squirmy than the longer ones with two bands, but will much lighter and easier to handle than the typical ones you see that are 3' or 4' long.

Mine is 28" long with two bands and the turnbuckles toward the rear for easier access.

My 7-pin harness was wired with a Y-connection allowing me to plug in the camper and my enclosed trailer at the same time, but I also ran a dedicated 4-pin for smaller open trailer instead of using an adapter. The Torklift connector plate allows mounting of both style connectors at the same time. It worked great with my Ford - My Ram only has a 7-pin, so now I have use a 7-pin to 4-pin converter when using my tailight or small trailer.
