Thoughts on Eagle Cap 1165

I know many here have newer HOST campers and I do like the look and floorpans. Any Eagle Cap users? Experiences with construction, warranty, durability, actual weights? I know they are heavy. The website lists dry weight of 4855 but as usual doesn't list what an actual weight normally optioned and wet might be. We would be ordering without a generator and probably without A/C.

We are also considering Host Mammoth but don't like the fact it doesn't have a real oven which we use quite a bit.

I like the layout of the 1165 with theater seating and a real gas burning oven.

Any relevant experience is appreciated.

I have an 1160. If you don't plan on hauling a trailer, you'll be at the ragged edge of a 1-ton drw, but ok. I had an F350 drw and had to move up to an F450 because I also haul a somewhat heavy trailer. I had too many weight-related issues with my F350, which you will also have with your dodge if you also haul a trailer. 17" tires don't like it. I had issues with all 4 rears--delam, sidewall bubbling, and even a cracked rim. But this was with a trailer as well as the TC. My F450 has 19.5 tires, and I've not had a single issue to date with weight.

If you don't plan on hauling a trailer, I would say a 1-ton drw is ok. Not great, but ok.

Thanks for the info. On their website you can build the camper and they give you a weight both wet and dry. I think you were right to go with a bigger truck. It looks like the combination of a wet camper, our gear and us would be almost 6,000 pounds. Too heavy.

I actually like the floor plan of the 1160 better without the kitchen island.

I like the 1165 but a little scared of the weight and price.
